Strength:

Powerful and reliable. Lightweight and used with Sunpak rechargeable power pack will go on all day

Weakness:

No dedicated module for Digital

A superb item if used correctly..the problem most occurs when used with Digital...most features will only work with film type Cameras...however, in manual mode correctly exposed you can easily use it on Digital types..obviously it takes longer to set up but if you use Ringflash you won.t be in a hurry anyway?.
it works perfectly with Nikon D100 and D200 using the standard module, or fully auto functional with F5 and Nikon TTL module.. perfect with 6x6 format. I have had great results with even coverage as expected from this type of flash unit .
A great item at a much lower price than the big guys. I am well pleased.

Strength:

Preview light
TTL operation
Dedicated Modules
Immune to wrong placaement of quantum battery insert

Weakness:

Won't mount directly on Nikon F3 with DW-4 finder (Needs the remote cord)
Feels Fragile

I have found it useful and reliable, as well as favorably priced comtaed to the Nikon unit.
I was suspicious of the quality and reliability, born out by the other review on this site. I bought it from a dealer trading in a Metz strobe and taking a hosing. However I benefited from adjusting everything in the store and having a dealer to stand by me if anuthing went wrong.
One of the Nikon modules did not fit, indicating lack of full testing for fit and finish; the dealer was able to fix this. This is a case where you would be taking risks via mail order, but if you are in the majority, most units work, you will get a very useful capable and reliable unit.

This unit is very ggod for dedicated SLR's for macro photography. This like all ring lights is not well suited for photographing jewelry or other times with shiny surfaces, unless you like seeing the ring. For flowers and and complex surfaced machinery or matte surfaces it is very useful. I photograph wathes and I use this when takin gpictures of the gearing but not when most of the picture is of the plates.

I use it with a Nikon F3 and an FA
