    Strength:

Lots of power. (find myself having to allways turn down the power. :) Thats a good thing. Feel sturdy. Cool colors. Light weight comes with bulb protectors where other companys make you buy theres for a extra 30 dollors.

    Weakness:

They make a bright pink one. My wife saw it and now says if want another light I have to get pink. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I'm very impressed with these lights. I'v been on shoots with a few fellow photogs and these lights rock. For the money you just can't get a better deal. Are there better lights yes, are there better lights for the money? I doubt it. I'v only had these for a short while but they have performed better than expected. I took the standard bulb out and replaced it with a halogen 150. I't really helps you see the effects of what your going to get. When 6 more months have gone by I'll make an update to this post. I would highly recommend these lights.

    Customer Service

Shoot there customer service is even better than there lights.

    Strength:

Price. Size. Weight. Consistent light output. Variable stops to 1/32 power. Inexpensive replacement model light and flash tubes. Tracking modeling light. Fast flash duration and recycling time.

    Weakness:

    1. Lexan tightening knob....Feels like overtightening it could break it. 2. Softbox isn't as good as Photoflex or others. 3. Wish it had an auto dump feature and an audible "ready" alert. No other weaknesses in my opinion.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this light. It seems more durable then I originally imagined. More weight to it than I imagined too. I figured the buttons, levers and switches would be flimsy, but I was wrong. They are very firm and non wiggly. I thought the 1/8 sync connection might be flimsy, but it's not, it pushes pretty far inside and creates a firm connection. It is made of Lexan plastic, which should hold up really well. To me, the only cheap part on this light is the screw that tightens the light to the stand. It's made of Lexan plastic and feels like it could break if overly tightened. I do wish the light had an auto dump feature and an audible "ready" alert. Other than that, I'm a very happy person. I also purchased the 30x40 softbox (it's a LightGear softbox; another Paul C. Buff company). I was pleasantly surprised with the feel and durability of this product. It's a very good and durable softbox, but I think photoflex makes a better product, and much easier to set up. You can't shoot without the front diffusion because it isn't removeable. This one is a bear to set up if you are setting up often. Speed ring is great however and it's a softbox/octobox combined speedring. But for the price this box and it's size can't be beat. It's larger than a similarly priced Photoflex and it's got a silver interior vs. the same price point Photoflex which has a white interior. Bottom line. This light was well worth the money! Great feature set at a this particular price point. In my opinion, no other light at this price point compares.I plan on buying additional lights when money allows.

These lights are great. I am trying to sell all the pro lights I spent 500-700 bucks a piece to replace with these. They produce a better light, really well controlled, and so portable that is makes it difficult not to take them shooting. I take more pictures for fun than I did before.

    Strength:

Small, light weight, fast, strong, cost effective, all the power I need, a modeling light that I can actually use and a user replacable flash tube.

    Weakness:

None for the target market - If you need to work with very large objects in a very big studio, you might want more power.

I was so impressed with my Alien Bees B800s and B400s that I posted detailed photos and information about them on my web site at: http://davidweikel.com/E20_Page/alienbees/bees.shtml

Wonder full order desk, haven't had any reason to call for customer service yet.

    Strength:

Quality Construction Light Source is good for Home Studio

    Weakness:

    None Found yet.

I was looking at a few different brands, but decided to invest in the Alien Bees due to the amount of "Stuff" that you get for the cost. I have used the lights in my home studio and really enjoy the controllability of the light. I am using 35mm and Medium Format and have gotten great results from both. I would highly recommend these lights as they are the same great quality as the White Lightnings and the accessories are interchangable with the White Lightnings also.

    Customer Service

WONDERFUL!!!!! All the employee''''s that I talked with at Alien Bees have been more than helpful.

    Strength:

Powerful, lightweight, fan cooled, built in light slave. Standard modeling light is 100W but a 150W halogen bulb may be used also. Uses most all the same accessories as White Lightining and Balcar. Very affordable. Inexpensive user replaceable flash tube.

    Weakness:

The only thing I wish was different is the the small plug for the sync. cord. I wish it had a household or standard 1/8 phono style jack for the sync. cord. This doesn''t effect normal operation, but I will need to get an adaptor cord to use either a radio or infrared slave triggering device on it.

Powerful enough for anything I will be doing. Stepless adjustment from 1/32 to full power. There is just one slider switch, but you can set the modeling light to vary in power with the flash power setting or you can set the modeling light to stay at full power always. I bought 1 and liked it so much I''m ordering another one. If you are looking for a powerful, affordable, versatile light I advise you to go ahead and order one of these before the factory people wise up and raise the price of this light to what it should be selling for.

    Customer Service

    Excellent. Very friendly people.

    Strength:

modeling light power tracking modeling light off until ready feature very light weight very small

    Weakness:

reflector is not black on the outside. Had to spray mine black to keep it from reflecting other light.

Purchased as a back up light. Love it more than the brand it is backing up. This light performs consistently and has some very nice features (see www.alienbees.com for feature list)

    Customer Service

    Sales support was very good.
