Canon 500mm f/4.5L FD Lens 35mm Primes

Canon 500mm f/4.5L FD Lens 35mm Primes

DESCRIPTION

This version of Canon's FD 500 mm f/4.5L lens features Canon mount which enables mounting with a simple twist. The lens incorporates BOTH Fluorite and Canon's UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) glass for performance that is not only superb, but extremely fast for a lens of its focal length, In addition, this surprisingly lightweight and compact lens features a plano-parallel glass protective flat used as a protective front element. It also features a built-in focus pre-setting mechanism which enables very rapid operation. The tripod mount has been changed to a built-in permanent type design. For sports, nature and surveillance photography, this is an ideal lens even under difficult lighting conditions.

Strength:

- Sharpness and contrast are very high
- Very good build quality
- Even good at 1:2 at open iris! Needs lot of extension tubes

Weakness:

- It is a long and big lens - but I do not know much shorter ans smaller telephoto lenses with this focal length and f-stop

I got this Canon super telephoto to convert it to Canon EF mount. That took a while, but I managed to do some test shots afterwards. I was realy impressed as I saw these pictures on the monitor at 1:1.
Photos taken with an EOS 5D.

This lens is very good for nature photographers - but I think others can use it too, for city landscapes, news,..
It is not good for photographers who won´t or can´t manual focus.
