Strength:

Well built, small, sharp, good color rendition, versatile focal length.

Weakness:

Flares easily.

Easily one of the sharpest lenses I've used (leica, nikon, minolta, other zeiss). Excellent build quality. An absolute pleasure to use.

Strength:

small size sharpness / resolution contrast tonality incredible value!

Weakness:

none yet

This is my favorite Zeiss manual focus lens! In color, its rendition is beautiful, and captures that Zeiss spirit -- in black and white, it's the best lens I've ever used. The tonal rendition and subtlety of this lens is incredible. In making my own black-and-white prints, I find that this lens is a stand-out, even among other Zeiss lenses. It has a classic look that is both sharp and elastic -- it makes me look like a better photographer than I am!

Strength:

Very sharp across the frame. excellent colours and contrast, no complaints at all actually

Weakness:

See above

My favourite lens, sharp great contrast and its cheap! These Zeiss lenses definately have something the competition lacks, I think it is in the clarity and contrast, oh and the colours are superb too. My slides look so lively and crystal clear, a big improvement over my old Canon equipment which look good until you do a side by side test

Model Reviewed: Distagon 35mm f2.8

Strength:

Superb performance at any aperture. Extremely low distortion. Very even field illumination. Excellent contrast, resolution, edge delineation and microstructure clarity at all apertures. Only slightly improved stopping down. Small, inexpensive, very lightweight. Excellent fit and finish.

Weakness:

Minor-only focuses to about 0.4m (about 18 inches)

A wonderful lens in every respect (if you don't need a fast aperture). Can be used as a normal lens. This lens does not disappoint. A well kept secret.
