Strength:

handy, high resolution and contrast, ideal for available light Photography, also very good with Mutar I (then 2,8/170)

Weakness:

focus only up to 1 meter (not enough for some portraits)

It's a new MM-type lens made in Japan. I found no difference in manufacturing compared to the West German lenses

Strength:

*Ultra sharp!
*High color fidelity
*High resolution
*fabulous contrast
*Fast!
*Light weight
*Best bokeh of all existing lenses on earth!!

Weakness:

Does not focus that close for some portraits

No joke, but this is the lens that made me switch from the Leica system to Contax. When I rented it out and got my chromes back, I sold all of my Leica lenses the next day, including the 90mm F/2 Summicron & 80mm f/1.4 Summilux. This lens is capable of superior portrayals. It is the sharpest 35mm short telephoto lens I ever used. The resolution & contrast is just amazing. No Contax photographer can afford to be without this lens.

Model Reviewed: Planar T* 85mm f1.4

Strength:

Takes pictures that seem to show more detail in the prints than when I looked through the camera's viewfinder. I showed 4x6 prints developed at the local 1 hour photofinisher to people and they have asked to buy them! That should tell you something.

Weakness:

None.

Fantastic lens, blows away competition. Construction is very solid and sturdy.

Model Reviewed: Planar T* 85mm f1.4

Strength:

Extremely sharp with great contrast and color. Very fast, too! Construction is superb!!

Weakness:

Mine is a little soft @ f/1.4, but is fine @ f/2. It's heavy, but well worth the weight.

Wonderful lens, worth every penny spent!! Newer lenses (MM) are apparently shaprer @ f/1.4. This is a perfect portrait lens, normal lens, and especially lowlight lens!
