Strength:

Very sharp from f4 onwards
The tilt/shift feature is really handy when you need the extra DOF or to correct convergence of lines

Weakness:

Slow to shoot because you need to stop down first
Exposure is a guess when you start using the T/S feature
Tripod is a must

A unique lens from Nikon. This is a specialized lens. The T/S feature makes this lens ideal for certain type of commercial photography. With its 1:2 macro facility, one can shoot small objects and still get the required DOF without having to stop down all the way. Versatile enough for portrait work.

Strength:

Is this the sharpest lens on this planet? Subjectively it outperforms the AF-Nikkor 60 mm f/2.8. Contrast is astonishing, colours are very natural. Mechanically it is built like a tank.

Weakness:

Operating this lens on F-100 is a bit slow because that camera like most others requires the lens to be set at full aperture, untilted and unshifted when the light i measured. I'm told however that is not the case with the F3AF (?) so I cannot blame the lens for this.

The Nikon SB-29 macro flash cannot be used on this lens.

Like all other tilt-shift lenses it has manual focus only - a very small drawback for the kind of photography it is intended for.

Awesome! Fabulous for portraits, stillebens, small non-moving objects etc. If you think this kind of lens is something for you and you can afford it, buy it!

Strength:

for what it's meant to do it does it great.

Weakness:

learning curve is high if new to TS lenses, size is abit of a hinder-ence sometimes.

I onl had a few short weeks with this lense cause a friend wanted to seriously try my AFS 17-35. well I a not much of an authority on tilt/shifting in a picture. with me I just fidle around till I like what I see. this lense does great and from what slides I have it is very shrp too. if you can find the need for it by all means I recommend it.
