Strength:

Weight, sharpness, & flare control.

Weakness:

Price and a lens cap (soft leather) that is very difficult to put on without touching the front element.

A great ulta wide angle lens. I like it better than my 15mm f3.5 Nikkor. Better flare control and lighter. Sharp images!

Strength:

Linear image, special effects possible by tilting and manipulating the lens, sharpness, contrast, build quality, flare control.

Weakness:

No hard case included,no hard cap included either. Would have liked bayonet filters as opposed to gel.

This is one fantastic wide angle. Superb edge to edge sharpness, great contrast, great flare control. I considered buying the Nikkor 15 3.5 but I felt the capabilities of my F5 are better exploited with the 14 2.8. If your in the market for an ultra wide look no further, plus it is very solidly made.

Strength:

solid build, seems smaller then the sigma 14 I used to use. but I never had them side to side so I really can't say one is smaller then the other. great optical quality.

Weakness:

the glass is ibviously big on a lense of this sort so one must be aware of the direction of the light coming into the lense.

solid. looks cool. matchs a F5 perfectly. nice handheld feel. I have had this lense for about 2 months now and probably used about 50-60 rolls on this lense alone. I have never had a problem yet, except one might say it is alittle contrasty.

Customer Service

none.

sigma HSM 14mm. (great lense no problems, I just perfer to keep as much of my gear the same brand as I can. it's just one of those weird things about me) I also use a 16mm nikon fisheye alot, but I can't really say that lense should be compared to this lense for they are of completly different sorts.

Strength:

SHARP, CONTRASTY, LOW FLAIR COMPAIRED TO SIGMA AND TAMRON.

Weakness:

REAR GEL FILTERS, THIS LENS SHOULD HAS HAS BAYONET FILTERS SIMILAR TO THE NIKON 16MM 2.8D LENS. NIKON STATED TO ME IN AN E-MAIL THAT PHOTOGRAPHERS PERFERRED GEL FILTERS DUE TO THE VARIETY AVAILABLE.

EXPENSIVE BUT WORTH IT. THE BEST ULTRA WIDE ANGLE LENS AVAILABLE. I WISH IT DID NOT TAKE GEL FILTERS AS I FIND THEM HAD TO HANDLE WITH OUT SCRATCHING. IF YOU AGREE PLEASE WRITE OR E MAIL NIKON YOUR VIEWS.

Customer Service

HAVE NEVER USED SINCE I STARTED USING NIKON IN 1964.
