Strength:

This is still the lens I measure all others by. Exceptional image quality wide open and slightly better when stopped down. Resolution, contrast, and especially tonal range is phenomenal! Strong and durable. Very smooth manual focus. A sleeper of a lens that's worth owning.

Weakness:

It doesn't come in an autofucus version (only a detriment when the reflexes slow and the eyesight falters). No protective front filter or threads to attach a filter to. Weight 3900 grams (light for its speed and focal length---but still heavy to lug around).

Still optically and mechanically one of the best---if not best---lenses I have ever owned or shot with. Can be used on Canon EOS cameras with an adaptor (is currently being used on a Canon EOS-1V and Olympus OM-3). Hard to find new or used but used prices are generally low for such fast, quality glass (US $2200-$3000). For any photographer who values superlative optics.
