Strength:

• This is a wonderful lens, sharp corner-to-corner at any aperture, as good wide open as it is stopped down.
• The Olympus 1.4X-A teleconverter is nicely matched to it, and produces a 500mm ƒ/4 lens that is superb!
• It works well on mirrorless lenses via a simple and inexpensive dumb adaptor, but even better with the Metabones Speedbooster Ultra, which turns it into a stunning 250mm ƒ/2 lens!
• Build quality is outstanding, with silky-smooth internal focusing via a rotating cam.

Weakness:

• As others mentioned, it is big and heavy. But any 300mm ƒ/2.8 is going to be big and heavy.
• Manual focus only.
• Some lateral chromatic aberration.
• Soft fluorite front element, hideously exposed with no means of adding a protective UV filter, is easily scratched.

Strength:

Tremendous results, high contrast, razor sharp!

Weakness:

Heavy!

Produces incredibly sharp, vibrant images. No loss of quality with the 1.4Xa teleconverter. Sharpest telephoto I've ever used.
