Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX Fisheye 35mm Primes

Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX Fisheye 35mm Primes

DESCRIPTION

There's simply nothing like a 180° fisheye to turn ordinary scenes into extraordinary photographs. With this one, no special finder is required, and an integral lens hood helps minimize glare. Thanks to its unique 8 element/7-group design and multi-coating, contrast and edge definition are excellent. A rear filter holder accepts gelatin filters.

Strength:

Nice lens for the $$$$$
$500.00 for a well built fish Eye! Who you kiding?

Weakness:

Great distortion in the corners. Cool effect though. But if you need a lot of info with crisp edges this is not the lens for you.

Great lens for the $$$. Well built and feels solid in your hands. F0r about $500.00 you can't complain.

Strength:

Well built, clear photos, even at 2.8. attractive finish, as with all fisheyes, a great effect.

Weakness:

difficult to use manual focus for adjusting while in the auto mode. Unlike the canon.

A great fisheye for the price, I think it is better built then the Canon, and looks nice with the ex finish, the results are even better. The lense has netted me more then quadruaple what I paid for it in only two months of working as a pro. Sigma, Why pay more!

Strength:

Cheap,
Excellent optics at its price,
Nothing like it except Canon's which is $300 more expensive

Weakness:

Unsharp at 2.8, close down aperture to 5.6 where it begns to be sharp

If you wanna get a full-frame fisheye but dont wanna spend $800-1000, get this lens ! I used it for my wedding work and i love the perspective that i can only get through this lens. Definitely a beautiful lens for it's price !!!

Strength:

Excellent optics and that means :
- fast max opening
- excellent sharpness,
- excellent multicoating,
- excellent contrast,
- natural colours.
Compact size.
Nice finish.
Very positive aperture settings - all the full and half stops value set with solid feeling.

Weakness:

Don't know how but this lens does not have a detail D-O-F scale which I had to improve myself using a white paind and a delicate instruments to clearly mark the scale for F2.8 and F4 values. NB I used the D-O-F tables received along with the purchase of SIGMA 600mm F8 Mirror Cat lens !

I've bought this lens having my positive experience with SIGMA mirror Cat 600/8 lens.
I was looking for something that will extend the view of my Canon FD 20/2.8.
At the time of purchase (I believe 1998) it was half the price of Canon F/Eye FD 16/2.8.
It has been working beautifully ever since on my previously 3 and now 2 only Canon bodies (my A-1 has died).
I can only recommend this lens strongly.
At the end one question to SIGMA : why did they not started the Depth of Field scale from F2.8 ???
The problem is when photographing using your brain as the primary instrument, you need sometimes to separate your subject from the fore-or-background, even if you use a fish eye lens.
Unfortunately in the wievfinder everything seems to be sharp with such optics and you can hardly rely on your eyes' judgement.
Otherwise it's a perfect lens
