Strength:

I have the non-hsm version for Nikon. I had a 300mm Nikkor F4 that I sold to finance a 70-200mm but ended up really missing the lens and wanted to get something similar on a budget. The Sigma 400mm is just as sharp as the Nikkor 300mm at a 3rd of the price. It is now one of my favorite nature lenses. Not practical for trips with the kids as it is locked at 400mm but great for those spring days where you just want to be around nature. I originally got this for light birding work but have found the macro version invaluable. Great lens if you get a chance to get one of these don't think twice. I listed a sample link below.

Weakness:

Pros: Super Sharp wide open, Great macro Cons: Slow focus print stickers | sticker printing | printing services | business printing

Strength:

Sharp and good contrast, Good value for money, Good quality optics, Excellent for sport and wildlife, HSM is very quiet.

Weakness:

Bulky, heavy and long (although it is light compared with other lenses in its class). It hunts quite often with the EOS 30 autofocus system when I use it for shooting fast moving subjects.

This is a solidly built lens with very good sharpness and contrast even wide opened. It is more affordable than the Canon 400/5.6. Macro ability is very useful. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the autofocusing speed with the EOS 30 and sold it shortly.

Strength:

Fast and very quiet focus, image quality fantastic and sharp, not a heavy lens at all

Weakness:

At this time I can't think of any, I have heard some complain about the hood not having any screws but I have not seen that as any problem.

For the money it's a great lens and very fast and quiet focus, I would highly recommend this lens to anyone who is not ready for big glass yet and or doesn't have lots of money to waste, but wants a great lens.
