Tokina AF17mm AT-X Pro f/3.5 Aspheric 35mm Primes

Tokina AF17mm AT-X Pro f/3.5 Aspheric 35mm Primes

DESCRIPTION

Tokina uses an aspherical glass lens in its AT-X 17AF. In addition to correcting spherical astigmatism, these lenses fully correct light quantity and distortion at the edge of the image and provide excellent results when used in combination with floating elements.

Strength:

Metallic built
Very minor image distortion
Sharp when > f5.6
Great field for the price
Relatively fast
Little to no flare

Weakness:

Noisy AF motor
Manual focus ring is too loose
Slower focusing speed than EF lens

This camera is an relative inexpensive alternative to Sigma 17-35mm. A must for EOS D30 users who wants to take landscape photo.

Model Reviewed: AF 17mm f/3.5 ATX PRO Aspherical Autofocus

Strength:

FOr the price a very good 17mm lens. Light fall was very good. A lot better than I would have expected for such a wide ange.

Weakness:

Soft at wide open, but improves greatly at F5.6-F8

Very happy with the build quality and performance considering the price point.
