Strength:

Very good optical quality for 10x zoom (even wide open), exelently built.

Weakness:

heavy, big (unavoidable!); white!

For a 10x zoom the performance of this lens is unreached. It offers great flexibility and delivers absolutely professional pictures. Far better than the Tamron 28-300mm to which I compared it.

Strength:

Huge range, one lens one body instead of two bodies and 6 lenses...

Weakness:

Weight, Stiff barrel, weight, and weight.

I concur with most of the other comments, its a lifesaver, definaly not as sharp as the 70-200, but then again it does go wide to super tight. Idve liked a constant f all the way through but hey. Vignettes slightly at 350, absolutly superb between 70-250 with good contrast. Theres a FANTASTIC macro at 135. For sports or reportage, documentary, conflict work there simply is no other lens. Simply a kit of 17-35 and the 35-350 and youve got ultra coverage, if your looking for a portrait lens then this will get you 75% of the way, but a 135f2 it aint, then again in the middle of some war somwhere your not going to be setting up the studio lights are you? One piece of advice, if your going to buy this lens, then buy a flash too and a booster for it, and opt to use a light body with it, my kit is a Eos1nRS, Eos600 and 3 lenses, the Rs & the 35-350 is a very heavy combination.

Strength:

This lens is by all means the one for any sport photographer. the ability to shoot 35 to 350 is everything one would want. It was the first lens I had with my e0s-3 and then got rid of it. now just bought another because I could'nt live with out it. super sharp at 80mm to 300mm. A little foggy at 350mm.Also cut down carrying three lenses to one.

Weakness:

wish it was faster than it is but, hey to get the ultimate lens you would have to spend a hell of a lot more than this one. It's really heavey to carry around to or three games in a row but, get your self a partner for that one....

bottom line...buy it! But make sure you pay a decent price these kind of lenses can be over priced. if you know what I mean
