    Strength:

    cheap, small, light

    Weakness:

light means my hands shakes quite alot, quality not too good!

This lense is okay, it's light and small, but it's slow, especially at 80mm, f5.6! My Vivitar 70-300mm is even faster at 80mm! With some good films like reala 100 the detail is pretty gd, 5R is not too much of a problem with that film, but I am planning to get the sigma 28-70mm because I can't stand f3.5-5.6!

Not needed, there are marks on my hood but who cares?!

    Strength:

Color reasonable, contrast o.k. Even though feels plastic it never broke or fogged inside even though used in harsh conditions. Its pretty compact & light and low-value so no worries using it in less-then favorable conditions (rain , dusty etc.). Very light and good angles for birthday snapshots etc.

    Weakness:

Build quality (admittedly, it never broke or gave any problems though, just feels plasticy). Very bad sharpness at wide, moderate (at best) at tele. Pretty flare-prone

I cant second the 1st review I just read. This lens is really bad at the 28mm end, at 50-60 it is 'moderate', at 80mm its barely acceptable for 10x15cm prints. And its not camerashake. I can handhold a 400mm 5.6 at 1/60 and have used the 28-80 on a tripod & cable release at 1/1000 and still got pretty poor results at 10x15cm 28mm. Cant recommend it. I'm selling it and will get a 28mm (or wider) prime.

    Strength:

Plasticky, but strong and light. Very good pictures--if they are not sharp, you are not holding the camera steady.

    Weakness:

A little "slow" -- f 3.5/5.6, but with fast (like 400) film, not the end of the world. Plastic threads on the mount -- probably not good if you a) are not careful with your lenses or b) take your lenses on and off all the time.

Considering that this lens retails for about $100 (or comes with some Minolta cameras in the box), don't expect it to compare with the results you can get with a $1000 -- even a $500 -- lens. That said, it seems solidly constructed and it IS very small and light. Also, having shot 11 rolls of both black and white and color (Kodak Max, 200 & 400) with it, I am VERY pleased with the results. Good sharpness and color in all conditions.

    Strength:

    Light, practic and cheap.

    Weakness:

Poor sharpness, bad construction, all plastic.

Perfect for old people wearing glasses. They could not make any difference between this one and a cheap compact camera.
