Strength:

cheap, light, fairly compact, with great (the best) build quality for its class.

Weakness:

None for its class

I love this lens and I carry it around with me all the time, along with my Nikkor 35-70mm f/2.8. I also own a Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8 1-touch, so I have good glass to compare it to. I often think about selling my 70-210 since I have the 2.8 tele-zoom, but can never bring myself to do so. The reason? It is light and compact and performs nearly as well as its big brother. I use it when I''m outdoors to gather ideas for scenic photos that I''ll return to with the 80-200 when the light is perfect. The 70-210 uses the same size filters as my 35-70 and is basically the same size. You can''t go wrong with this lens. It focusses much quicker than the 70-300 ED that I used to own. Ken Rockwell writes a glowing review of this lens and I fully concur. Cheap, light, compact and a joy to use mechanically. The best resolution in a consumer tele-zoom. If you can live with the speed (you just have to use a tripod indoors) this is the one to get.

Strength:

Strong Build, metal mount, good range for most users.

Weakness:

Soft at the edges, but not that noticeable.

Better than other reviews might suggest. Yes, it''s slow compared to the 80-200 f/2.8, but if you''re using a tripod that doesn''t really matter. If you want to hand-hold it use fast, grainy film. But with a tripod and 50 or 100 ISO film this lens gives great pictures. Focus is fast with my Nikon F100, slower with the N60. Some softness at the edges but clear, sharp in the center. Perhaps I just got a good one, but I''m very happy with mine. Gives great color and contrast. It''s well built. Solid, not plastic as many of Nikon''s newer lenses.

Strength:

Quality vs price is it''s biggest strength.

Weakness:

For this price, nothing much. The only thing I can think of is the push-pull design need some times to practise.

Overall result is good if not great. Focusing is faster than latest 70-300 f4-5.6D ED. Picture quality and contrast is good.

Customer Service

Only once. It happened when I took photo under rainny situation, and without proper care, fungus appear....

Strength:

Metal structure. Feels robust. Is robust Reasonable size and weight Decent image quality (it''s _not_ a pro tele)

Weakness:

None (for the price). Of course it''s slow and quite soft at 200 mm, but, hey, there is no 24-500 f/2,8 tele weighing less than a pound on the market :o) No miracles there, it''s a very good consumer market telezoom, way better than the new Nikon G series

Good construction, no bad surprises. Does what''s advertised

Customer Service

Not used. Not expensive enough to justify a repair anyway

Strength:

Build quality is better than the new 70-300 zoom lens. not to heavy.

Weakness:

It has a push-pull mechanism to operate zoom...so it zooms by itself when you point the lense at an angle...picture tends to get softer at larger end (150mm and up).

i wouldn't recommend buying this lens new; it really doesn't perform well for serious work--but it's a consumer grade zoom so you can't expect too much from it

Strength:

Good price & light weight compare to 80-200mm f/2.8. Good range & fast enough
for daily actions.

Weakness:

Of course, not as sharp & beautiful as the 80-200mm f/2.8D. I wish the lens is f/2.8-4
rather than f/4-5.6

I am very happy with the performance VS that price.

Model Reviewed: AF70-210mm f/4-5.6D Zoom-Nikkor

Strength:

Relatively Cheap, Excellent Build quality compared to 3rd Party Sigma, Tamron, Quality (extremely close to 80-200f2.8 quality)

Weakness:

Once Touch zoom will drop down when shooting at a angle on a tripod, slightly heavy

Buy it if you cannot afford the excellent Nikon 80-200f2.8. If you buy the Nikon 70-210, I don't think you will be disappointed. If you do, don't even consider the 80-200f2.8

Model Reviewed: AF70-210mm f/4-5.6D Zoom-Nikkor

Strength:

Its a Nikon lens. Build quality feels as good as my old manual focaus lenses.

Weakness:

I think this lens is overpriced for the range, although it delivers good photos.

I would not buy this again having suggested the Tamron 28-200 to friends who have bought them. For the price, this is not as good a buy. I don't think this will outperform the Tamron 28-200.

Model Reviewed: AF70-210mm f/4-5.6D Zoom-Nikkor

Strength:

Nice zoom range, not to big, take 62mm filter

Weakness:

Not as sharp as other Nikon zoom on this range, ie 80-200/2.8, and one of the slow zoom (4-5.6)

This lens is beautifully built. Deliver sharp result and beautifull especially when stop down. Take 62mm filter, same as the 28-105/3.5-4.5 or the 24-50 zoom. For the value of the money, this is a great lens. If I want to carry two lenses for travelling, this is my combination otherwise I go with the "one for all" zoom, 28-200.
