Strength:

Very light. Excellent image quality - pin sharp results. Superb feel. The focus and zoom rings have a very smooth action.

Weakness:

Maximum Aperture could have been better

The lens came with my Olympus OM 2000 (a superb camera in its own right! Read my review about it ;-) ! ) and complements it perfectly. It is excellent for most everyday scenarios, from shooting landscapes to portraits. The quality of the images should ensure that you would get some truly memorable shots. A great standard zoom.

Strength:

- Very good image quality
- Good color contrast
- Good flare control
- Lightweight
- Inexpensive

Weakness:

- Blue color casting
- Zoom ring is too narrowed and too close to the aperture ring

As everybody else I received it with my Olympus OM-2000. Well, this lens is actually made by Cosina and probably not even designed by Olympus. For the last year I had a chance to use a high quality photo equipment and didn't expect much from a low budget armature lens with plastic made body. I was wrong. After running some comparative tests with other lenses I was extremely impressed by its quality. At zoom 50mm and apertures 4, 8, and 16 it is as good as Olympus 50/1.8 and a little bit softer then Minolta 50/1.4 and Sigma 28-70/2.8 EX. Because it's very lightweight it gives a good balance to the small OM-2000's body. The are only two down sides for this lens. First is a construction of the zoom ring, which is too small and too close to the aperture ring. And the second is a little blue color casting it gives. This makes blue shadows a little too contrast and you can loose some details.
The bottom line: absolute bargain for this price. I'll never sell it as far as my Olympus lives.

Model Reviewed: OM-Zuiko 35-70mm f3.5-4.8

Strength:

It's solid and well constructed. Very high Olympus quality. It's very inexpensive.

Weakness:

35-70mm is a bit too small of a range. A 35-80 or 28-80 would be better. 35mm is not wide enough, 70mm does not bring you that much closer.

It came with my OM 2000, it's worked great. It's small, light and gives great quality. Focus and zoom rings work great and are not too soft.
