Strength:

Solid, sturdy lens, superb range. Gives good quality, especially for the price, and one of the best benifits: the price!

Weakness:

It is a bit of a heavy lens. Granted, I use heavy cameras (Canon made the 10D our of aluminum, and I have both a flash and external battery pack on it). It will also never reach the "full potential" of your camera because, well, it isn't a Canon lens. If you don't have the money for a full Canon lens set, this is a great alternative.

First, let me preface, nothing will work better on your camera then a lens made by that camera company. That being said, this is a great, solid lens that delivers. I use it on my Canon EOS 10D digital SLR, and on a Canon Rebel GII 35mm. It performs excellently on both. The quality of the images that it produces is sharp and clear, even in RAW format on the 10D. It is a large lens that has some weight to it, but it is doing the job of 2-3 lenses and a less than half the cost. The focus and zoom rings are positioned well and have some weight to them, so you can really feel the lens work. This is a telescoping lens, so there is a lock on barrel to keep it from extending unintentionally. The autofocus feature works wonderfully with both cameras and is pretty precise. Of course there is nothing that would beat a Canon lens for a Canon camera. But if you are like myself and many others just starting out, the cost of Canon lenses often times far exceeds the cost of even the camera. This is an excellent alternative and I recommend this lens to anyone who is looking for quality for the dollar, and can't spend a fortune on high-end lenses.
