    Strength:

Tack sharp image quality. Great performance with teleconverters. Excellent construction. Sigma has stepped up to the pro level with their recent products.

    Weakness:

It's big and heavy, and proper support is essential. This isn't a weakness in my book, just something to be aware of.

This is an absolutely superb lens. No question about it. It's bright, razor sharp, and the autofocus is very fast with my Nikon F5. (The autofocus is slower with my F100, but I don't use that body on this lens.) It's built like a tank. It's too heavy for handholding, you must use a tripod, but that's typical for a lens of this type. Results with the Sigma teleconverters are outstanding, with no loss of autofocus performance. Makes a great, flexible alternative to multiple fixed primes, and is a very cost effective way to reach 600mm by using the 2x converter.

    Haven't needed it.

    Strength:

Sharp and well built. Zoom ring is the more logical 'pull down' to zoom in and 'push up' to zoom out. Also, the zoom ring being farther out from the lense mount means you don't have to rest you hand on the monopod locking ring. Price, I paid about $3400 Canadian

    Weakness:

You still have to buy it

This is the best long lense I've ever used on my D1h's (including Nikkor primes). It's pin sharp/fast focusing and BRIGHT (it acts more like a f2 when compared to other 2.8's I own)

    Customer Service

I 've use Sigma service for other glass and it's the best service I've encounted (particularly when compared to Nikon)

    Strength:

very fast focus [hsm],good sharpness over all its focal range, great price,

    Weakness:

    none

great lens --yes its big and heavy but 300mm f2.8 lens are.Its very sharp even wide open -- colours are great and flare is not a problem-- looks built to last [only time will tell]-- have used with 1.4x and 2.0x sigma and there is a slight drop of in image sharpness but it still ok [unsharp mask in photoshop works a treat]. would like to see a larger tripod bracket as its handy to us as a carry handle --with lens like this sigma will be up there with the best

    Strength:

Top flight superb build, immediate to lock focus in even lower light, sharp wide open all day long, color and contrast befitting a lens twice it's available price...

    Weakness:

    None

A lens that just screams "Pro Users Please". Built like a tank with a complete feel of precision in every way. Considering the available street prices on this lens it demands consideration for a large FAST lens of it's type. Especially if you are a Canon shooter
