    Strength:

Metal lens mount. All in one zoom range. Sharp lens. Non-rotating front. Robust build. Quite lightweight and compact. Silver color available (goes well with my silver Pentax ZX-7). Design is pleasing to the eyes. Fast aperture.

    Weakness:

No zoom lock for angular shots. Small DOF. Expensive 72mm filters.

This is aspherical zoom lens is a 2 in 1 zoom lens taking care of 28-70mm and 70-210mm zoom lens so no more lens changing hassles. The results from this lens has come out very well and the crispness, clarity, exposure and sharpness are quite satisfying. It''s quite compact and lightweight but not as light as the Tamron''s 28-200mm. But then I guess weight does add sturdiness and strength to a product. It''s got a very good aperture range of 3.5-5.6 for such a huge focal range. The aspherical design has added to it''s compactness. Due to the non-rotating filter mount, using of polarizers has become easier. On the downside the depth of field is the only casualty in the mid to tele range compared to smaller range zooms.

    Strength:

Zoom range is good enough. Fast auto-focus even compare to my Canon lens. Good quality for the great price.

    Weakness:

    Not too good at 28mm.

Great price/performance! I buy it before compare it with the Tamron one, it does focus faster!

    Strength:

all-around, dependable to get the shot

    Weakness:

no locking mechanism for focal length

I love this lens. I feel like I can always be prepared to get the right kind of shot in nearly every situation. The lens does tend to zoom out if it is pointed down, but I solved this by placing a band of elastic material (like an elastic waistband) around the focal length ring. It provides just some added friction to avoid unwanted movement... it was well worth the $220 I paid for it!

relatively small and light weight, great all purpose lens from portaits to landscapes and then some. I especially like that it doesn't need to refocus as you Zoom and close focusing ability

Fantastic lens for the money, much better than the latest tamron 28-200

    Strength:

This is a "do everything" lens. On a recent trip to CO,AZ,NM it was the only lens I needed. Sharp photos, easy to use, light weight. Long zoom range and close focus are great features. Internal focus makes using a polarizing filter easier. The 28 - 200mm range covers almost all landscape and portrait needs. Fairly good for wildlife.

    Weakness:

Minor. Large 72mm filters are expensive. Lens hood makes it difficult to adjust a polarizing filter. Barrel tends to extend when lens is point down.

For the money, this is a great lens. Most will forget about using anything else.

    Customer Service

Used sigma service in the past when Minolta changed the circuits in their camera so the lens would not work. They upgraded the lens for free.

    Strength:

Shoots great portraits in the 100-135mm range. Best results outdoors I use 400 speed film. Indoors I use 800 speed film. I use fill flash all the time.

    Weakness:

Lense want to telescope when pointed straight up or down. 72mm filters are kind of expensive.

I can highly recomend this lense! Great Price! I bought mine from NY mail order. Makes more sense to me to carry one lense instead of 2, (28-80 and 70-210). Looked at Tamron also, Sigma has a closer focusing distance.

    Strength:

    light and cheap.
    Large zoom range.

    Weakness:

Obvious distortion - changes in characteristic at diferent focal lengths, bad zoom creep,
    Low build quality

OK only for 4x6" snaps for beginners. Low res, high distortion, cheap build.
Better of buying second hand real zooms (not 28-200!) for same money from Canon or Nikon - even some Pentax ones are significantly better.

    Priced right.
    Well made and light.
    Sharp otics and good color.

    Weakness:

Very good value for the money, my all time favorite lens. They seem to have solved the Zoom creep, mine is as stable as they get. Optics are very good on this one, not perfect but very good.
I would give more than 5 stars if they let me!

    Fast focus
    Sharp optics

    Weakness:

    Glare when shooting into sun.
zooms out when walking with it round my neck.

A great lens for the price, nice being able to zoom from 28 through to 200 in one lens, means not missing that shot when something suddenly jumps out of the bush!

I enlarged a print up to 8x10 and it was tack sharp, limited only by film grain. Certainly not a pro lens but for any amateur a nice single lens when you dont want to cart multiple lenses around

I'd buy it again for sure.
