Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 APO EX HSM 35mm Zoom

Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 APO EX HSM 35mm Zoom

DESCRIPTION

Sigma's new Hyper Sonic Motors (H.S.M.) provide silent, responsive autofocus action with Canon, Sigma, and now Nikon AF cameras. H.S.M. also permits manual adjustment of focus without the necessity of switching off the autofocus function. Focus Free mechanism keeps the manual focus ring from spinning when the camera is autofocusing.

Strength:

well made, decent pouch, lens hood included

Weakness:

focusing in low light, colours look to warm

Value for money was the main reason for buying this lens but as with other people the lens has had it moments with sticking getting more frequent while on safari in Kenya, possibly heat related. The lens was returned and i paid the extra for the Canon 70-200 2.8, faster focus, natural colours and pin sharp. As a long term investment it is worth every penny. Ask yourself this If you owned a Jag would you be happy with a Escort Engine in it!!!!

Superb value. Quality. Probably Sigma's best lens.

Weakness:

HSM not as quick as latest Nikkors, but fast enough.

Top quality at a bargain price. Faultless performance so far.

Excellent "fast" lens, even in combination with Sigma 1.4x EX teleconverter. Reasonably fast autofocus. sharp throughout the range, even at wide open aperatures (at least as far as I can tell...only use wide open in hockey rink...with Konica 3200 print film...it's pebble beach, so how do *I* really know how sharp it is...VBG).

An excellent value -

Built like a tank. Fast autofocus, internal focus, front element doesn't rotate.

None at all.Highly recommended lens.

Sigma's new EX series lenses are of the pro-rating and Practical Photography [UK] picked it as a best buy against Canon[at twice the price].

Excellent autofocus and no need to switch to "manual" to manually override. Fast and sharp

Weakness:

Just persuading my wife to carry it!

Half the price of the canon professional and yet a quantum leap from the usual zoom lense suspects

No problems, so not tested
