Tamron AF28-200mm F/3.8-5.6 Lens 35mm Zoom

Tamron AF28-200mm F/3.8-5.6 Lens 35mm Zoom

DESCRIPTION

The worlds smallest, most lightweight 28-200mm high magnification zoom lens. With a minimum focal distance over the entire zoom area of 49cm, and a maximum magnification of 1:4 (at 200mm), this remarkable lens achieves high magnification zoom performance with the compact size of a standard zoom lens. Through XR (Extra Refractive Index) glass and efficient use of aspherical lenses, Tamron has achieved a 25% reduction in size and a 27% reduction in weight over the previous model (Model 371D), along with a decrease in filter diameter by two-steps ø72mm- ø62mm) without compromising the superior image quality characteristic of Tamron 28-200 lenses

Strength:

fairly fast focus

Weakness:

not name brand
bit more noise than name brand, not much
feels cheaper made than name brand
some distortion

This is one of tamrons best zoom lenses...and their best super zoom w/ macro. Although designed prior to dSLR popularity/consumer availability, the 80-200 LD glass works great with any 1:1 digital sensor, bringing sharp images in edge to edge...At 28mm, the wide angle really shows off and delivers top notch images comparable to the Nikon, Canon glass. This is a good lens to keep close by or keep on your daily driver, because of the versatility and range...Tip: be instantly ready for anything during day travels, couple this lens with a 2X-3X quality glass adapter and /or a (name brand) 0.38X-0.42X Wide angle adapter...Again, regardless of film or dSLR, this tight zoom will perform very well...Only the very, very discerning eye will complain about the results versus name brand glass when comparing this inexpensive, flexible & small bodied zoom...approx $125-$200 for new product!
