    Strength:

For the price, this lens is a real bargain. It compares to many lens I have used or borrowed that are brand names, or Nikon.

    Weakness:

    I haven''t found any yet.

I have found that the lens is very sharp at f/8 and above. I use the lens indoors shooting hockey action with a good flash. It gives only decent resolution at the minimum f/stop, but since I use a flash, I can use a bigger f/stop. Still, the best lens for the buck ever is the 75-150 nikon E series. It''s incredible for such an inexpensive lens. But with a 2x teleconverter, it loses it''s intinsic value. If you are into fine photography, you shouldn''t be reading this review. Stick with the primes in a larger format!!

    Strength:

I was very pleased with the results I have achieved with this lens. On a N70 with a Nikon TTL speedlite flash photos were great. Perfectly sharp with wonderful color saturation. Tele shots were much better than I had expected. On an FE2 the lens functions fine as a manual zoom. (The G would not work on this body.)

    Weakness:

At this price you cannot complain to much. The zoom is alittle stiff but I prefer that to the drift some of my other zoom lenses have.

I am a Nikon guy. I wanted a long telephoto to complement my collection of wides but knew going in that I would not be using the lens very often. So I looked for a reasonably priced zoom in this optical range in the Nikon line but balked at the cost of most. I was told that Nikon''s new 75-300 G lens is this same lens without the aperture ring. I don''t know if it is true but they sure look alike. I wanted a lens I could also use on manual focus bodies so with that I bought the Tamron. I figured if Nikon is using this lens for the G it should be a good choice.

    Customer Service

I have needed none. Lens has a six year warrantee.

    Strength:

It is very crisp and clear. Has great magnification ratio 1:3.9. It''s nice and light. Great price for what it does. Macro capability.

    Weakness:

Hunts a bit in low light, but a lense that isn''t a 2.8 usually does.

I have had the lense for about 2 1/2 month now, and it shoots great. I use the lense to take pictures of everything from potraits to outdoors. The lense is crisp and clear with little distortion or aberrations. The prints have come out sharp and the color saturation has been very good.

    Strength:

Point & shoot sharp. Long focal range. Cheap. Buy one.

    Weakness:

Stiff zoom but then my $500. 24-120mm nikkor slides all over the place.

I was looking for a cheap long zoom. My normal frames are family, friends and vacation shots, mostly wider shots. Frankly for the price you can''t go wrong. It is obvious that you are the reicpient of Chinese slave labor for it would be impossible for any western economy to produce, ship, wholesale, and retail this lens for $129. with a $10. dollar rebate. I guess that''s life. Get it while you can.

    Strength:

    Price, weight.

    Weakness:

    Zoom stiffness.

First off, I am very pleased with Canoga Cameras; both in the product received and their promptness of shipment (ordered on Thurs, received on Tues during Christmas rush. I purchased this lens to by my primary lens for shooting outdoor, sports and children/grandchildren shots. My immediate impression was that I hope the zoom loosens up. It is not as smooth as the Tokina 35-105 that I used on my AE-1 until the AE-1 died last month. It is also very stiff. I have not completed my first roll of film yet, so hopefully it will free up some. I am sure that the picture quality will be good.

    Customer Service

Pleased with promptness and condition of product when received. Ordered via email, so I didn''t have any personal contact with a person.

    Strength:

This lens represents an outstanding value. It gives you an incredible zoom range in a very light and affordable package. It is also capable of making very sharp photos when not pushed to its limits. As an added bonus, if you get one and don''t like it they have been selling on ebay for more than the new price.

    Weakness:

Hunts excessively in low light conditions (that could also be my camera), could use a larger max apeture

I am very new to this so I hesitate to write this review. That said, I was very dissatisfied with the stock lens that came on the Reble G. All of the pictures were worse than the ones taken with my old point and shoot. When I got the Tamron lens I completely changed my mind about 35mm photography. The quality of photos has been very satisfying. The focus tends to hunt in low light, and a larger apeture would be nice, but what should you expect for 125 bucks?

    Strength:

Decent build quality, optical performance, and compatibility with other good 60mm filter lenses. The autofocus is also fairly fast, although well below the standard set by AF-S lenses.

    Weakness:

Marginal optically a larger aperatures. It also seems that the lens is just about 1-1.5 f-stops too slow to be really versatile for wildlife work. It is clearly too slow for indoor sports.

I use this lens in a set with a Nikkor 20/2.8 and 60/2.8 1:1 macro. All three lenses use 60mm filters. The 70-300 is also a good lens to carry when doing wildlife to back up a longer prime telephoto (300, 400, or 800) in case your distance to subject decreases or you decide you want a group shot. Optical performance is reasonable, particularly if one shoots about 1-2 f-stops slower than maximum aperature. At the price I obtained this lens, of course the value rating was superb.
