Strength:
Very well built, great quality and price for someone who does photography as only a hobby. Price to quality ratio is outstanding. Reccomednded for any hobby photographer.
Weakness:
the lens cap is quite annyoying in that it's hard to take off and put on. The carrying case that the lense came with is pretty bulky and ugly. The 77mm filters are very expensive. If you're like me, a hobby photographer who doesn't need super sharp apo lenses or extreme depth of field, this lens is wonderful. It's MUCH better (so i've heard) than the vivitar 19-35 that's about $100 cheaper. Bottom line: if you want a super wide zoom w/ good quality for a great price, this lense is perfect. AF235 II 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5
Strength:
Well built, solid metal construction, extremely versatile range, lens hood is included, great price. Sharp as I need it to be.
Weakness:
Slip-on, rubbery lens cap won't stay on after a while. It is expecially useless if you place any neccessaily thin filter on the front. I have to use two pieces of clear tape to make it stay on in my camera bag. Sold the Nikon prime to get 20-35mm range. Was a good decision as the Tokina delivers comparable performance (really!), and is built like a tank. The slower speed is irrevlevent for me at this focal range, and besides, you generally stop down a lens like this to get a lot of depth of field anyway. AF235 II 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5
Strength:
Inexpensive, solidly built, sharper than you would think.
Weakness:
A bit slow at long end but I almost never use that end anyway. If you don't use this focal range as your main range, this lens is perfect. If you use 20-35 all the time than maybe the more expensive 2.8 versions are needed but if the wideangle stuff isn't your main thing, you need this lens. Customer Service None needed yet. Strength:
Cheap, sharp and well-built.
Weakness:
Heavy, noticable distortion at 20mm, slow in auto-focus. If you want to buy a cheap ultra-wide zoom, this is the only one I would recommand. The 77mm filter size and whole metal construction is exceptional for this price range. When you compare the price with Nikon and Canon lense at the same focal length, those minor weaknesses is nothing. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
1. Sharp, sharp, blazingly sharp
Weakness:
1. noticeable distortion at 20mm I was thinking about trading up for the Sigma 17-35mm f/2.8-4, but every time I look at the pictures taken with this lens I just can't pull it off. This lens is so sharp if it was a little sharp the film base will crack. Now I am thinking about the EF 20mm f/2.8 instead (for the minimum focusing distance). But this lens is a keeper, especially now that Tokina discontinued it and went for the plasticky 19-35 (which is optically identical to this one). Built quailty
Weakness:
Some Distortion This is a great lens, specially for its price. It take great landcape pictures and even great architecture, if you dont mind some distorsion. Nice colors and sharp. All my lenses are Tokina ATX Pro, and i was surprise to see this non Pro model matching its brothers in quility. I am very happy with the lens. I will rate it 5 just for the overall quality and low price. Customer Service never used Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
It was cheap,all-metal, and a decent performer.
Weakness:
Not as good as primes. This lens for Nikon. It was only $300 new, a good deal if you consider that Nikon has nothing compareable(except $2000 f2.8).It did a good job optically and seemed very, very sturdy for third-party. Customer Service had to replace rubber focus ring. took about 3 weeks. slow service, but new focus ring is much better Similar Products Used: 25-50/4 nikon MF Ais |
