Well made. Comapct and sharp.

A VERY good lens. Very small, compact, well made and sharp. I'm referring to the one-touch (push-pull) version. It was made by Kino Priecision Industirs (Kiron) for Vivitar, and is actually a clone of the Kiron model. It's considerably smaller and more compact than the legendary Nikon E 75-150 (also made by Kino, for Nikon), but doesn't develop the horrendous zoom creep that the Nikon is known for. And it's every bit as sharp as the Nikon E 75-150. I have tand use wo of the Kiron versions.

Strength:

sharp
light weight
good price
decent zoom factor
ease of use
smooth operation

Weakness:

a bit slow

i own the push/pull version with a serial number that starts with 22.
I find this lens very easy to use, it zoom factor isnt half bad, its light, can take a decent beating, very smooth. its advertised as a macro lens.. well it isnt.. at least not a true macro lens... its a bit slow, looking thru the viewfinder is difficult in lowlight situations.

Strength:

Macro capabilities, short focus distance, light, fast to focus.

Weakness:

3.8 should have been 2.8 or less.

Underestimated lens. My serial 22745167 is for a two rings version. Together with a macro converter capable of doing great things. Light, easy to use, great for taking pictures of insects, very nice bookeh. Operating manual on my Nikon D80, but for insects, flowers and other detailed work no problem. Easy to use the 52mm for adds on.

Customer Service

I think at that time I buy a new one.

Strength:

Super small, focuses to around 3 feet at all focal lengths, SHARP.

Weakness:

Can be a little hard to find. Wait for the single push-pull to show up on eBay or online classified lists and you''ll be rewarded. Also made under the Kiron name with a constant f4 maximum aperture. Basically they are the same lenses.

Excellent lens in the push-pull type. This lens was made both in push pull and two ring versions. Look for the push-pull with serial numbers beginning "22" and you''ll find a honey of a close-focusing super compact lens that doesn''t take up alot of space. Built well to boot in that version.

Strength:

A nice small package.Well made and quite sharp.

Weakness:

not much zoom range by modern standards

Perfect for the beginner. Great for travel. quite sharp and compact. 52mm filter size works well with canon or nikon systems. Please note there is 2 versions of this lens: a 2 ring design and a one touch design (could be the same lens optically)

Strength:

Lightweight
52mm Filter size
Macro focus
Nice built in lenshood

Weakness:

Two ring operation is clumsy
f3.8 is too slow

I purchased this lens in 1982 as a present to myself before being shipped to Turkey for the USAF. I continue to use it to this day, and am very pleased with its performance. It is a bit slow by today's standards and the 2.1 to 1 zoom ratio is somewhat limited, but it is still a solid performer, and one on which I frequently rely.
