Bronica 110mm f/4 Zenzanon-PG Macro Lens Medium Format

Bronica 110mm f/4 Zenzanon-PG Macro Lens Medium Format

DESCRIPTION

The Macro Zenzanon PG 110mm f/4 is designed to compensate for aberrations in short-distance macro photography, but it can also be used as a general purpose lens. The minimum focusing distance is 66cm (2.2 feet) yielding a magnification ratio of 1:4. This lens is perfect for commercial photography and document copying, producing sharp images free of distortion and field curvature. Zenzanon PG interchangeable lenses were all developed specifically for the GS-1 body, employing computer-aided optical design and multi-coating technology. PG lenses are equipped with a shutter that opens and closes at a signal from the camera body. Shutter speeds are available from 1/500th of a second to 16 seconds. PG lenses must be mounted with the shutter cocked.

Strength:

Very sharp versatile lens. Fine aperture setting for close ups and fantastic performance at infinity.

Weakness:

Can't think of any except that it weighs a bit more than PG 100mm.

Strength:

about the same size as the 100mm f/3.5.

Weakness:

Pictures taken from 18" away at f/11 have very short depth of field (might need to stop all the way down).

I only shot one roll of film with this lens, taking most of the shots at macro distances. I do not do a lot of close-ups therefore this lens is not really needed by me. The 100mm f/3.5 seems to be a better all around lens. When it is sharp it is sharp. I think I need to test it more, but for now the 100mm 3.5 is a better lens for me.
