Bronica PE 100-220mm f4.8 Medium Format

DESCRIPTION

This is the first internal focusing, internal zoom for any medium format system. In addition to the world renowned PE coatings incorporated into the lens, it contains aspherical elements to correct for any possible distortions associated with zoom lens design. The minimum focusing distance is one meter, throughout the focal range. The magnification ratio is 1:4.9 making it a near macro lens. The 100-220 focal range makes it the ideal studio, catalog and portrait lens.

Strength:

Razor-sharp delineation. Vivid, clean, accurate color. Fluid and rich tones/gradation. Outstanding contrast and beautiful bokeh. Non-existent distortion and flare. Built-in tripod mount and lens hood. Leaf shutter. Internal focus and zoom.

Weakness:

Large and heavy. Justifiably Expensive. Relatively slow aperture (Pentax 645 and Mamiya 645 offer larger aperture mid and full-tele lenses.

The best tele-zoom in medium format history! This marvelous lens beats all other 6X4.5 format tele-zooms in every performance category. Highly successful optical and mechanical design - as perfect as any MF zoom lenses can get!

Strength:

extremely sharp
well made

Weakness:

weight
95mm filter size

This lens is an excellent addition to the Bronica 645 line. It's sharp, it's well made, and it balances well for its size and weight. And, of course, being able to zoom from almost normal to a couple of different portrait tele lengths is most convenient. Downside? I've
come to consider it a tripod lens because of the weight. Also, decide what you want in the way of filters and vignetters before buying, because the 95mm filter size becomes
a greater frustration the longer you deal with it.

This zoom lens has great sharpness. And its internal focusing, coupled with it being a leaf shutter lens makes it a super buy.

The only other lens I need to complete my system is the 30mm fisheye.
