Model Reviewed: PS 50mm f/3.5

Strength:

Good Image quality, sharp from center to corners. Smooth focus, balance and size.

Weakness:

f 3.5 is too slow. Not as sharp as the old Nikkor or Zeiss.

If your shooting group shots you'll need this lens, slight distortion. Its good for scenic shots as well. Will produce very pleasing 16x20's.

Strength:

Very well built with a smooth action, Gives a high quality image. Colour ballance is excellent.

Weakness:

Very large images show a distinct softening of resolving power near the edges of the frame.

This is an excellent lens for groups as there is very little distortion near the edges. I do not find the f3.5 aperture restricting. Those photographing interiors etc should look at the 40mm or 35mm alternatives.
