    Strength:

    good focal length for portraits.
    fairly lightweight.
doesn't need a lens shade - the glass is deeply recessed on this one
    looks really cool

    Weakness:

    shallow depth of field
floating element can be a pain to remember

I logged on to this site to see if anyone else has had the same experience as I have had with this lens. It's been my main lens since I bought my RZ and I've had mixed results with it. Sometimes it seems very sharp and balanced. Other times the focus is disappointing. My conclusion after reviewing 2 years worth of photos; this lens excels in certain situations but is not really a good general purpose lens. I seems to have a very shallow depth of field unless you stop it down to the extreme. Anything on the same plane as your focus will be pinpoint sharp, everything else off the plane will be very soft. I haven't been able to establish how much the floating element can control this. I'd have to spend at least an entire day testing. I feel that the 140 is really maximized for flat field work.

I actually like this lens for single portraits, you can focus on the eyes and everything else will be soft; but for a family portrait you'll only get probably one face in focus. It's awsome in table top photography with the tilt/shift adaprter or for macro work with an extension.

I recently aquired a 75mm shortbarrel lens and am amazed at how much of the scene is in focus regardless of the aperture setting. I might try the 150mm to see if it's a better option for general purpose shooting

    Strength:

-very low distortion at all apertures and distances -vignetting nearly invisible at all apertures and distances -flare dito. -neutral color balance -build quality (Mamiya standard)

    Weakness:

Every now and then you may need more than F4.5 or tilt-shift-lenses. But thats not what it is built for. So that's not a weakness really. Mamiya delivers other RZ lenses for these purposes.

This lens is not only suitable for macro work. I rely on its strengths (listed below) in portrait, fashion, industry. Even architecture is possible, if digitally corrected at postproduction level.
