Strength:

Nice calendars and digital photo books.

Weakness:

AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!

I have used Shutterfly for years and have generally been very happy with their products. Recently though I have had to deal with the customer service side of the company and I have to say that I am VERY disappointed. Awful service!!! During several calls I have dealt with people in India that cannot understand me and vice versa and merely give me scripted answers in hopes of getting me off the phone. The company did not follow through with the shipping date on a promotion they were having and because of this my gifts will be received after Christmas. When they tried to resolve the problem, they once again are not coming through. VERY frustrating!!! The products have been of decent quality, but I am ready to look for a new company to work with. If you work with this company, pray that you don't have any problems and have to deal with their customer service! I will be looking elsewhere from now on!

THE WORST!!!!

I ordered my Christmas Cards from Shutterfly on 12/12/10 and as of 12/20/10 I still have not received them. It never occurred to me that it could possibly take this long to send simple photo Christmas Cards done online. I could kick myself for just not using Sams or Walmart where I could have printed them on the spot or picked them up at Walmart in 2 days. I do not think the company is really US based as they seem to have no idea what Christmas Cards are and that if I get them by 12/23/10 that is fine. They supposedly have an address in CA but the tracking just shows scanning into the US on 12/14 where they then enter in OR and move to UT. Will never use again.

Shutterfly is one of the best online printing companies. My images always come out clear, and are delivered quickly. I saw that buwyithmeNYC has a great promo going on with shutterfly right now too. They're selling an album, custom photo mug, and 50 prints for just $20. Can't beat a deal like that! Here's the link if you want to check out the deal yourself: http://bit.ly/cm54Cq

Customer service not helpful. Did not honor QVC codes for scrapbooks, and despite knowing problems with redemption did not notify customers.
User interface also is lacking ease of use

Strength:

They market a great service, but the reality is that it's crap!!!

Weakness:

Service, price, reliability, shall I continue!

I tried to make a memory DVD for my grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary - Originally, I felt that shutterfly offered a great way to develop a basic DVD that could hold up to 400 pictures.
For the first week, I uploaded, added, edited and saved about 136 pictures to my DVD and everything worked relatively well - I had my parents’ logon to check it out and everything was good.
Week # 2, I uploaded, added, edited and saved at least 6 times that day to the point where I had over 200 pictures. Throughout the day, I had gone over the time limit and had to re-login at least 5 times and everything was the way I left it (saved). Then came the kicker...I re-logged in for the last time and began to work on my project...then I realized...no longer was there over 200 pictures...there was only 136 pictures!!!!
For whatever reason, it had gone back to the saved project of last week and everything that I had been working on, editing, saving, etc was GONE!!!!
Contacted the help desk, the supervisor and all they had to say was that I must have not saved it and that the system showed that my last saved item was a week ago - I'm not an idiot! I've saved this DVD project over a dozen times and you're telling me you have no records of me working on the project today... you've got to be kidding me!
They were absolutely no help, hardly apologized and barely spoke any clear ENGLISH!!!
Someone please tell me of a better option so I don't have to give a cent to this AWFUL COMPANY and SCAM!!!

Strength:

A great trap

Weakness:

No worth words recieved about this site

This is little h*** which looks heaven at first sight. Will say its a trap rather than a deal. They trap you once you are done with your photo uploads. I uploaded my pics before formatting my Laptop in a hope to download all the one again in 2006 but the hell I was never able to get all my goo memories and they ask for huge charges when ever you get a print deal from them. Getting your pics in DVD is another trauma.

Wish no body else gets to this trap like me.

Strength:

The card looked nice when we finally got it a week after christmas.

Weakness:

Difficult to navigate and place an order without making a mistake, and exceptionally poor customer service.

I am so furious with this company. I was drawn to the site by their special holiday discount on shipping and used their card-making service. I sent out 47 christmas cards to my family and was charged $99, which seemed pretty reasonable. Unfortunately, what turned up in my family members mailboxes was NOT the cards that I had ordered, but a single 4x7 print without the nice holiday border and message we had added, in a cardboard envelope filled with pages and pages of advertisements for shutterfly! My husband and I did the math and decided we had been grossly overcharged for sending out just a single print. Since it was two days before christmas when we discovered the mistake, we immediately got on the site and sent out the christmas cards (their site was so tricky to navigate that we very nearly sent the prints again; and the cards cost the exact same ammount as the prints), and sent an email to the customer service center to tell them what had happened. They told me that they couldn't do anything unless I collected all of the prints (from all 47 of my family members) and mailed them back at my own expense. When I emailed back to tell them that this would be impossible since half of the recipients had taken one look at the envelope their print had come in and tossed it in the trash thinking it was junk mail. I received an extremely nasty response saying that this entire issue was my fault and they would not be compensating me except in the form of a $50 gift certificate for their site, which I told them I have no intention of using since I had already paid for my cards twice and the total had come to $200 not $50. It was an extremely insulting email and I have never been more offended by a customer service representative in my life. I have told all of my family to never use this site and I hope to speread the word even further.

Customer Service

Wretched!!!

Strength:

Easy to use.

Weakness:

Low resolution on screen images. The worst prints I''ve ever seen. The prints had banding like you would see on older style ink jet printers. Slow over two weeks before I got my prints back.

See weaknesses this place sucks.
