What makes Smugmug special are the little things... things like cropping. In the past with other printers, I've had to process different photos for various aspect ratios like 4x6, 5x7, and 8x10. Each individual shot had to be processed and uploaded. Smugmug makes it very easy to upload the full file and crop online. This is such a huge help, both for pros who sell lots of photos, and for regular folks who don't want to spend all day learning complex programs like Photoshop.

The site is super customizable. They have excellent tutorials you can check out and learn how to change everything from colors, to backgrounds, to styles and themes. As many others did, I went back and forth between many sites to make sure I was getting my money's worth. I wound up with SmugMug because of their unlimited storage capabilities, ease of use and great website service. You can tag your photos which is an excellent way to recall photos from a large collection. You can create different passwords for each and every album if you wish and you can create an album hierarchy with categories and sub-categories which is nice. Their printing offers a WIDE variety of choices and will show you what parts of your photos may be cut off depending on the size of print you want. The professional mode allows you to set your own prices, create watermarks and limit viewer options as you see fit. You can customize your smugmug site.
