    Strength:

Separate cartridges allow for ease of replacement. When working well, this printer is great!

    Weakness:

When not working well, the S9000 is a complete pain.

That Canon would make a printer requiring the user to return the entire machine to be taken into an authorized service shop is astonishing. Eventually every owner will see their S9000 warn them about the overflow pad at the bottom of the printer, and soon the printer will stop functioning. Other problems with the S9000 include a tempermental print head, which requires regular cleaning (and ink waste). On our S9000 the paper alignment bar is extremely sticky, worse than any bottom-of-the-line printer we've operated. The paper handling is pretty bad, and the S9000 will occasionally pull in paper at an angle even though it has fed straight. After a year-and-a-half, our S9000 is about dead except for B&W printing.

    Strength:

photo quality prints faster drying than the epson 1280 (finer pixel spray) ink doesnt clumb as badly when using cheaper stock to print on. Definitely a lot cheaper to operate than the 1280 epson

    Weakness:

can not let the printer head dry out. sephia toned printes require a color correction. occasionally you have to realign the printer head.. this isnt a 1 shot deal like with the 1280

Owning both a s900 and an s9000 (bought the 900 at a second hand auction just for an xtra print head.. but it works like new) ANYWAY I have not had any problem with print discoloration when printed on good paper (not canon good) jetphoto and kodak and 3M professional. also its a good thing to put your prints under glass.. UV rays will distroy any print. I was previous to owning the canons a proud epson owner but the canon just is a better performer. There is only 1 problem i have encountered in either printer... both do not have the proper color correction when you print sephia prints.. I have to raise the magenta and cut back the cyan +6 -4 respectively. to get a good match. Color is dead on with no adjustment.. which i do find curious. as far as people stating print problems.. must be related to the head.. you cant let any print head go dry.. once it does your screwed you eiher find a cleaning cartridge or opt for a new head.. or option 3: (you never heard it from me) soak the head in denatured alchohol for a few hours then put it back in and run a couple deep cleaning cycles (somtimes as many as six cycles) I never had to replace a problem head after attemping to fix it myself. Also remember the addage crap in crap out.. that goes for printer paper as well as poor quality images.

    Strength:

Seperate Ink Tanks compared to Epsons. Even though I pay 16.00 Canadian per tank, it is still cheaper than buying the Epson becuase I only buy what I need to replace.

    Weakness:

Found none yet. Hope not to either. Paper is expensive though as with all photo papers.

Great Quality and very fast. Outshines the Epson's by way of seperate ink tanks as well as a removable print head. Two of the most important features in my buying decision, besides speed and quality.

    Strength:

Six separate ink cartidges, very fast and quiet, easy to use. The driver has many different paper types settings.

    Weakness:

    None

Very fast printer! I''m very impressed with the speed and the quality of the printer. The colors are realistic and the images are very sharp. The prints are perfect, from edge to edge, no banding even in high speed low quality mode. You can use photo paper from different manufacturers without losing the image quality, opposed to Epson 2000p, which gives best results only on Epson paper.
