Strength:

The plate locks in place with nothing else to do (no screwing in of a screw, pressing button or anything else).

Weakness:

Occasionally, particularly in portrait position when the release/lock lever is against the ball head, the lever may not spring close. Then you have to manually lock the plate in. The base plate has some kind of small, headless screw in it. It becomes lose and will prevent the plate to lock in the QR base: remove that small screw. Make sure to press down on the camera to ensure proper lock. I now even push the lock-lever in to make sure that the plate is indeed locked in. The QR plate has to be screwed in with an Allen Hex key (not a coin), the hex key has a nice storage place in the base of the QR system, but I wonder, whether I will lose it one day (so far in 7 years of regular hiking it has not hapened). If you need a spare base plate, they are difficult to come by, usually special order items, except for the largest retailers. Could not get one on a trip to Vienna and Basel.

A precise QR system, that locks itself. Use it with a Linhof Profi II on a Gitzo 1228, a very nice ensemble.
