Strength:

Very solid
Easy to use
Quick mount plate

Weakness:

Not for users requiring micro-adjustment

This mount is the Manfrotto 128RC imported by Bogen. It came with my Swarovski AT80 spotting scope mounted on a Manfrotto 055SS (Bogen 3021S) tripod. It is actually listed in Manfrotto's video head section, but it does a fine job as a camera mount. It's range is limited to 2D, but the stability is excellent. The best feature is the safety on the mounting plate release. It's a small, spring-loaded brass pin that keeps the locking lever from releasing the mounting plate. It is durable and has saved my scope twice and my camera once. Every head should have a similar feature. Overall, a quality head for any use requiring stability and ease of use.

Model Reviewed: 3130 QR Micro Fluid Head

Strength:

This is an easy to use head that provides a smooth, steady mount. I like the quick release feature that solidly snaps into place and only let's go when you flip the lever.

Weakness:

No problems, but it only allows for a horizontal mount.

A simple, solid quick release mount.
