Holds well and the two stage release works well. The coupling is suprisingly small and can easily be left on when off the tripod.

The smallish coupling is very unobtrusive but occasionally needs tightening.

I use this with the Magic Ball and I am very happy with its security and build quality. With a Canon D60 and 70-200L it has a definitive click when it engages and the two part release is very assuring.
