    Strength:

Compact size, very sturdy, built like a tank.

    Weakness:

Gitzo tripods are expensive - but worth it.

This is a great tripod to support a Leica M camera and lens. It goes with me on most photo excursions just in case I need a tripod. Admittedly, the M camera is not usually used on a tripod but there are times when it becomes necessary. This 1126 is suprisingly solid considering its size and offers very sturdy support. It is built like a tank and I look forward to years of service from this item. I purchased this particular tripod because I wanted a compact and sturdy unit that I could easily take with me on hikes and vacations. This fits that bill exceedingly well. It does not extend very tall but that is to be expected with a compact tripod of this size.

Easy to use and durable tripod. Can anyone recommend a Gitzo quick release ball head for this tripod? Would the Gitzo G1276M universal ballhead be too big with this tripod?

    Strength:

Great portability. Very stable given its small size & weight. Like all Gitzo products, it is extremely well-made & durable.

    Weakness:

Like all Gitzo 'pods, slow leg extension. Not as stable as it could be due to its 4-segment design (cost of enhanced portability).

The best lightweight "backpack" tripod I've found. Perfect for travel & trek photography.

    Strength:

Very short closed length, the ideal tripod to carry while hiking or backpacking. Easy to lash to a pack. Very stable for it's weight.

    Weakness:

Typical Gitzo: skin stripping leg adjustment knobs. Expensive.

A great stable tripod when size and weight are important.

    Strength:

Light weight, portable, very compact. Carries weight(5 lbs of camera&lens) well at full extension.

    Weakness:

Expensive, slow to set up with twist leg adjustments

Love it for what I do. Excellent for backpacks.

    Strength:

    Very sturdy and yet compact.

    Weakness:

Not the quickest tripod to extend. Occasionally not quite tall enough. Rather expensive, I paid $230.

An excellent tripod. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to have a tripod they can hike with.
