Strength:

at $50, it''s much better than $30 junk easy to make small adjustments

Weakness:

marginal with SLR''s with large lenses could be a few inches taller without center column up

A big step up from cheap, small junk. Would be ideal for compact cameras, but with SLR''s can be marginal with BIG lenses. Hanging gadget bag from center helps if it''s heavy enough. Just remember the rule of all tripods: do not extend center column unless you have to.

Strength:

Lightweight, stable and with the ability to raise a camera to eye level. Excellent value for money.

Weakness:

The quick release shoe needs to be tightened firmly to prevent camera slipage in the portrait orientation, a coin or similar is needed for this job.

This is my first tripod, and it has opened up a new area of photography for me. I think it is a good first tripod, being both light and sufficiently stable for most uses. It is easy to erect and adjust, and the quick release shoe is very useful.

Strength:

Lightweight and cheap.

Weakness:

Not sturdy enough. Vertical adjustment on head will not hold position under a slight load.

This tripod is a great buy and is generally built well. The main weakness is in the vertical adjustment on the platic head. It's probably fine for most work, but I found it almost imposible to use the "bulb" setting without a cable release because when I push on the button the grip slips under the force of my finger. I was very disappointed about this. I made a modification to the griping surface and it improved the holding power. All and all I'm happy with the tripod especially for the price. But DO NOT buy this tripod for use with a heavy camera or lens longer than 80mm.

Strength:

Good price (less than $50 at B&H!), sturdy for the price, very lightweight, nice finishes.

Weakness:

For the price? None.

Like the finish. The cheapest Slik to have metal crossbars. Very sturdy for the price. Bubble level? I have never expected that if I am paying only $50!! I like to take it everywhere because it is light, very practical and I wouldn't cry if I break it somehow (a tough one to do).

Strength:

Sturdy construction, nice finishing. Resonable price(bought at a discount). Great extender head too, very smooth.

Weakness:

Main problem: No bubble level (as somebody elso said here), although I don't mind as perfectly horizontal and vertical shots are never my priority.

Nice tripod for the price, though some features could be added for the price.

Strength:

Lightweight, sturdy for an inexpensive tripod. Good for the beginner to just in any situation

Weakness:

The mounting screw doesn't cinch the camera on tight (camera twists w/vert. shots)

Also, a bubble level would be a nice addition, esp. since my framing isn't the best.

Good for the beginner who cannot drop $150 on a Bogen. Great for a tripod to keep in the car trunk for surpise situations. Definitely a good stepping stone between no tripod and a "pro" tripod

Strength:

It's a really nice little tripod for beginners-intermediate level photographers. It "ain't" a Bogen ot Gitzo ... but neither is the price. To get started in photography can be expensive. Don't think you have to have all the best equipment right away. Get decent stuff ... that's easy to operate ... & functional ... & add to it as you can.

Weakness:

No ... not at the level of expertise described.

If you can afford to spend more, buy the Bogen 3021, 3221 or the new 3401. If you can't ... try this one out, or even one of Ritz Camera's Quantaray tripods. They're less expensive & yet stable enough to get you started ... & on your way to learning how to take good images.

Strength:

Cheap. Light.

Weakness:

Unstable with SLR-camera

Sure, this tripod is lightweight and iexpensive but it also makes it quite unstable with heavier cameras. But if you need a tripod for digital or compact camera, this will do. If I were you, I would buy for example a used Manfrotto instead of this.
