Strength:

Light weight and only 3 segments keeps it sturdy. Exceptional height for something this small. Price is great.

Weakness:

Very poor snap locks. Too much plastic.

This is a great tripod for the money. I understand that Velbon is no longer making this or the EFL-4 for the US market. Still in Japan at higher price. I like the EFL-3 quite a bit. It is very light and quite sturdy. I am glad I went with the 3A over the 4A as any less sturdy than this would not be acceptable. I have reservations about the low quality snap locks. They appear cheap and weak. They do not match the rest of the quality. You can't beat it for $74. Great backpacking tripod for long hauls. Significantly more sturdy than a Slik 300 series. If you can't lug around a Bogen you have few good light and short options with extended height under $200. I will go with carbon next time. I should get a few years out of this and some backpacker on ebay will buy it for close to what I paid.

Customer Service

U.S. distributor was very helpful.

Casual

Strength:

Lightweight, sturdy, independent leg spread is useful, reversible central column allows make shoot almost from ground level

Weakness:

Leg locks will not last forever as it seems, center column does not slide well sometimes, need time to arrange leg spread delimiters, bubble glass would be nice.

I consider myself as a beginner rather than experienced photographer and this tripod works well for me. I bought it together with PH157Q 3way head - quite nice combination - for those who do not need hitechs everywhere. Anyway-this tripod will not get the first prize "world's best tripod contest" :)

Customer Service

none for now (will see what happens with those leg locks)

Professional

Strength:

Very good build quality, rugged, no center support, multi adjustable leg spread positions, ability to use center post upside down for really bugs eye views, quality, quality, quality!

Weakness:

NONE for the price, try finding a top name brand with fluid head, quick release plate, and all the same features for less than a $100 ... you couldn't find one aty twice the price and I doubt it would be built one hair better!

A fantastic tripod for the price, you couldn't find as good in a big name brand for even twice what I paid.

Customer Service

not needed
