Summary:

I no longer use this as I dropped it on a concrete floor and the plastic casing broke in several pieces. However, this was a blessing in disguise as I really did not care for the pictures this camera took. I previously has a Minolta Freedom Zoom 90(one of the early P and S zooms), it took exceptional pictures indoors and out. Unfortunately the 'chip' died and because of the age of the camera impossible to fix. I would recommend a Minolta P and S before a similarly equipped Fuji.

Strengths:

easy to use, red eye reduction does make a difference in photos

Weaknesses:

outdoor photos are poor in color and sharpness, it didn't matter what speed of film I used

Similar Products Used:

canon sure shot, minolta freedom zoom 90

Customer Service:

did not use

Discovery 270

Summary:

This camera is the greatest camera I have ever used. The picture quality is superior for the cost of the camera. Unfortunately, I dropped my in the river. However, its still ticking and working after being in the water for over 3 hours. The photos even came out!! That is the great advantage of it putting the pictures in the case as they are taken, vs other camera. Would highly recommend this camera to anyone.

Strengths:

The picture quality is superior for the cost of the camera. The ease of use, and picutures come out in almost any situation.

Weaknesses:

none found.

Summary:

good camera for money, could have faster lens to freeze motion and give greater detail at night
all around winner

Strengths:

zoom lens, great package deal, relatively cheap, good quality shots, remote control included

Weaknesses:

lens speed is a little slow, doesn't do so hot under really dark situations with really fast film

Discovery 270

Summary:

Awful. Terrible. Don't waste your money.

Strengths:

I hate it.

Weaknesses:

This is an awful camera! After a five week Europe trip and 28 rolls of WORSE THAN TERRIBLE pictures, this is the camera that is compelling me to shell out some serious cash for a really good camera. Some of the pictures came out blurry (the auto-focus apparently doesn't work well). If it was overcast, even with 200 film, the pictures came out very dark. For an overall picture of the landscape with a building on the far horizon, the focus couldn't handle it and the whole thing came out, yes, once again, blurry. "Clear and crisp" apparently is not in the manufacturer's dictionary, even for some of the better shots I got out of this worthless camera. We got the camera as a wedding present and hadn't had the time to test it out before we went to Europe. I wish I had...this camera would've been in the trash instead of taking blurry pictures of the Palace of Versailles.
