Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $0.00 from BHPhoto

Summary:
I got Elements with my Epson 2450 Scanner. I upgraded to Elements 2.0 My wife uses Elements and finds it has most of the necessary features of Photoshop 7. I use it to refine digital photos and my 35mm negative scans. My wife uses it to draw illustrations for her book. She first draws illustrations using pen and ink, scans them with the 2450 and then edits and colors using Elements 2.0

Strengths:
Very versatile, lots of features. Lots of default edits for Photos. Presents alternative color tints in thumb-nail size so that I can compare the pictures side-by-side. Allows drawing of original images. Produces book-quality images

Weaknesses:
I haven't found any. There are so many features that I haven't tried them all after a year of owning it.

Customer Service:
Adobe upgraded to Elements 2.0 for only a shipping charge.

Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $99.00 from buy.com

Summary:
This is the image editing program I like the best. It is sophisticated enough for most digital photographers, yet it is fairly easy to use. I'm not a big fan of massive image manipulation but you can ENHANCE your photos here. And you can go crazy too if you like. I find that the automated image fixes go just about what I want, which is to make the color balance a little more realistic -- i.e. trees should be GREEN not yellow-green (unless this is fall foliage!). I carry this program with me into the field on my laptop. I can edit my photos even before I get them home. Most user friendly program I have used. Recommend for the casual to intermediate digital photographer.

Strengths:
Ease of use. Price. Well documented. Lots of users out there willing to share tips and advice.

Weaknesses:
You must be careful not to resave -- this is the path to low resolution pics.

Review 4 of 4

Price Paid:  $99.00 from Best Buy

Summary:
APE has so many alteration / enhancement options (compared?xD;?xA;to previously used software), I have yet to try them all within my?xD;?xA;dozen or so hours of use. I''''ve spent hours trying this and that ?xD;?xA;just to see what each option does. Many options have multiple ?xD;?xA;adjusting parameters, each with a wide range of alteration. ?xD;?xA;Fortunately one is able to revert to the original at any point. ?xD;?xA;?xD;?xA;I find the software fairly easy to use. There are short explanations?xD;?xA;given for many choices and longer ones if called up. It works for me
