Strength:

It is also more intuitive to work with, and to apply exposure compensation through one's own thinking, rather than calculating complex sums in one's mind when trying to use multi-spotting for exposure control. Macon Auto Glass Repair

Strength:

Greetings from accounts payable bend This thing is firmly assembled. The cinches holding the expanding legs set up are extremely simple to utilize. What is amazingly advantageous is that I can expand one set completely, at that point utilize the middle segment to raise my camera to eye stature for shooting. It is additionally amazingly steady.

Weakness:

A little heavy, that's all.

Strength:

Tall Light Great performance, low price. Latch locks (not twist) Great quick release. Multi-angle Legs

Weakness:

None that I can think of. We don't get ice or snow in the winter, so the lack of ice points is not a weakness to me. This tripod is an excellent bargain. Bogen and Gitzo equivalents are twice as much. It's a very sturdy and tall tripod. There's really no need to use the extension unless you need a high angle. Plus, it's rather light for it's size. The leg's can be set to three different angles, which is useful. We are using it all the time to takes picture for our Bois de chauffage Sherbrooke business. And I personally like the Pan/Tilt head, although a ball head would be more to my liking. I do plan on purchasing one soon. The quick release plate is great.

Strength:

No nonsense tripod at a great price.
Very strong.
74" height.
Padded legs.

Weakness:

Limited minimum height.
Head is average.

This tripod is up there with Manfrotto, Gitzo and the like; Ok it's not got all the features of the top named brands, but it is very strong and the overall weight is reasonably similar.

Remove the head that comes with the tripod and fit a compact magnesium ball head for less weight and better usability. I have used this tripod for a number of years professionally and it has never let me down, first coupled with a Manfrotto pan and tilt head for wedding and portrait work, later with various compact ball heads for landscape and architectural photography. Some times you just want a basic strong tripod to just do the job, having a tripod that doubles up as a multi use platform has it's drawbacks, they can become cumbersome and complicated. The Slik Pro 700DX is a basic get the job done workhorse.

Strength:

Perfect for balanced load. More than 5kg seems just fine.
Dual tips 1/4" and 3/8" stud. No thread adapter required. (need hex wrench to swap the thread).
Light weight (for it's size).

Weakness:

With dynamic load distribution, center column lock mechanism does not strong enough to hold y-axis.

It must be 5-star for general propose still photography application.

I give 3-star because my main use is for 2 minutes on single exposure). I prove this by attach laser pointer to the center column and point down to the floor, there are some slightly movement overtime on my tracking astrophotography session.

My setup was:
1. Slik 700DX (tripod only)
2. Skywatcher Star Adventurer mount (1kg)
3. Nikon D5500 (not sure, very light)
4. Nikkor AI-S 400mm f/3.5 (2.9kg)

My another setup with shorter focal lengths, 200mm and lower, are just fine. I can take 5-minutes exposure with pin-point star in the field.

I have to agree with everyone else. This tripod is excellent. Seems to be very high quality and its large. I'm 6'5 and I do appreciate the height. It looks like it belongs on the space shuttle. I did the combo of the 770DX with the SLIK 800 ball head and I'm very pleased. The head is rated at 6 lbs and it easily handles my D80, Sigma 18-200 OS (big lens) and my SB-600. Seems to be very steady.

This is NOT a backpacking tripod. But for those outings where you go to a park or something and walk a 100 yards or so it's not too bad.

I very much recommend this setup

Best regards Ken Atlanta,GA

Couple of cheapies. I've learned. If your serious about your photos, don't skimp on your gear. Few things will help your captures more than knowledge, good glass and a steady shooting surface.
