My name is Loren Crannell, aka Racing Pinarello. The name was from my other lifetime passion of cycling. I race on a Pinarello Prince frame with a Campagnolo gruppo. It was a great way to combine both passions together.
I've been a member to PhotographyReview for a long time. Many years ago I found the information I needed to buy my Nikon N80 on this website. As a benefit, I found many people to help me learn photography. I've never left the website, and I learned a great deal about photography from this site. Ever since I was very young I have loved nature photography. As a family we would travel to many of the national parks where my dad and I used to take photos. This passion of travel and photography has never left me. Due to a lack of money and for college, I didn't photograph anything for over 12 years. It wasn't until I won a small point and shoot film camera that I started to take photographs again. When I went to Vienna, Austria I had this camera with 4 rolls of Kodak Gold and fell in love with photography again. When I came back I saw my photographic "vision" and that passion is now a large part of my daily and professional life. Luckily I was able to upgrade from that point and shoot.
Although I do professional photography for commercial and wedding clients, my true passion is travel and nature photography. I've traveled to many countries in the world with the primary interest of capturing the landscapes and cityscapes of these places. I don't bring back souvenirs; I bring back photographs that hopefully inspire others to travel to these places. Places that I have traveled to include, Argentina, Mexico, Spain, France, and many others. Future locations will include Asian locations like Vietnam and Thailand.
I am a strong supporter of film and digital cameras where I use both in a professional manner. It's not uncommon for me to carry two digital and two film cameras to any of my travel or commercial assignments. There is a need for both types of photographic tools. As a contributor I am focused on giving unbiased and helpful support to any photographer regardless of ability, or type of camera used. Having been 100% self-taught I hope that my trials and tribulations can benefit you climb up the learning curve faster.
Have fun with photography, and enjoy the freedom it can bring. I am a proud member of PhotographyReview's family and hope that you can be a part of it too.
