Sony Alpha NEX-7

Sony Alpha NEX-7

Ok, here’s something a little different. Very different, actually – although the Sony Alpha NEX-7 isn’t technically a DSLR, it’s such a powerful camera it had to be included in our Sony digital SLR guide. The NEX-7 uses the same 24-megapixel APS-C sensor and 2.3-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder as the new SLT-A65 and SLT-A77 transparent mirror DSLRs but in a smaller, rangefinder-style body with no mirror. Plus, with the addition of the optional LA-EA2 Mount Adaptor, which houses the transparent mirror and phase detect auto focus array from the SLT cameras, the NEX-7 is effectively converted into a digital SLR. So with the NEX-7 (and the LA-EA2 Mount Adaptor) you can have the easy-to-carry convenience of a compact system camera and the performance of a digital SLR.

    Nice guide John

Thanks, Greg. It got kind of out of hand. I didn’t intend the inro to be so long but I thought the Sony system needed more introduction than Nikon and Canon, since Sony is a relative newcomer to the camera business and some of their technology is probably mysterious to the average camera shopper.
