Canon EOS 5D Mark II

Summary:
I have a Rebel Xti, 5D, and now the 5D mk2. The reason I bought the 5Dmk2 is that I shoot dance photography which is mostly in low light conditions and so the improved high iso quality and slightly faster FPS of the mk2 is what I was really after. The huge increase in resolution was welcome but more importantly the increased DR (Dynamic range) Overall, we have a camera with all around better image  read more ...

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM

Summary:
Several months ago I finally decided to shell out the 1400.00 on this lens. Quite simply it is one of the best investments in photography that I have ever made. The lens is outstanding, both in build quality and performance.
Having a constant 2.8 aperture AND IS has enabled me to capture images that would have otherwise just been impossible.
A good example of the benefits of this lens is i  read more ...

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2

Summary:
Having started with LightRoom 1, I had the time to get comfortable with the concept of editing my images "virtually". That is, whatever you do to your files in the LightRoom softwares never actually gets applied to them but rather gives you previews of what the image would look like with the changes and edits made to them. So, no harm is ever done to your original image file and it's original form  read more ...

Canon EOS 5D

Summary:
This was the DSLR that i had always had my eye on, but at the time made the step from film to digital, this camer was still in the 3,000 price range. so, at the time I went for the Rebel XTi that had just come out. The XTI was a very good camera for the money, but it still did not feel right to me. small in size, cropped sensor (smaller than 35mm film) and very small and dim veiwfinder.

Slik Pro 700DX Tripod

Summary:
I read alot of rebiews about this tripod on amazon.com. they were all great. I decided to go to Adorama camera and see the unit for myself and also compare it to other tripods.
I had the Slik Able 300 and liked the build quality of it, so I was confident in the Slik name to give me a quality tripod. Having bought a new and heavier DSLR and also planning to use a Nodalninja Panorama head on it,  read more ...

Slik Able 300 DX

Summary:
I bought this tripod a few years ago, 2004. I have used it with a Canon elan 7 film SLR and also with a Rebel XTi. I find it to be very stable and reliable. It has no levels and no quick release legs, but the build quality is very good and the legs stable. I think this tripod is great for a medium weight set such as the Rebel XTi with most any lens. A shorter center column can be purchased to allo  read more ...

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 1.0

Summary:
Lightroom is basically a very sophisticated and well thought out library/browser for your vast stash of ever-growing volumes of digital pictures. In addition to be very good at keeping track of all your files, it has the ability to handle RAW format and provides some powerful editing abilities for adjusting your RAW files as well as files of other formats. It is not meant to replace Photoshop, but  read more ...

Epson Stylus Photo R2400

Summary:
I had been using the Epson 2200 for about a year, and it has given me great prints and reliablity. The only drawbacks were it's print speed and it's use of only two black inks which made printing in b&w less than ideal, but still acceptable. Well, here comes the 2400 to finally replace the old industry workhorse. It sits in the same tight spot on my desk as the 2200, so the footprint is clos  read more ...

Nikon Coolscan V ED

Summary:
I found this scanner to be a rugged build, very easy to use out of the box, great software especially the digital ICE which removes practically all dust and somehow does not seem to touch the image or quality in any way. Scans are very sharp as the Auto focus works great and a real time saver. I've scanned negative film and slides and both great results. The strip film feeded, which automatically   read more ...

Canon i9900 Photo Printer

Summary:
Setting up this printer was very easy as well as installing and using the software. Prints from this machine are beautiful.Sharp, vivid, and extremely fast, and quiet ( and there is a quiet mode as well which I never had to use). The thing that I did not like about this printer is that it cannot handle a wide variety of papers. You are pretty much limited to Canons papers, and they only offer diff  read more ...
