Price Paid:  $900.00 from Local reseller

Summary:
All together a medium camera. Some things happend that pulls the grade down. After shooting 830 pictures from my vacation, the camera coulden''t read the memorycard, I had to reset it and all my pictures was gone. Same thing happend this newyears eve.. :o(

Strengths:
Macro shots, good battery lifetime, 80 shots on one charge, but that without the display running.

Weaknesses:
Slow startup time, and long time to take a new photo. Some picture doesen''t have good focus. Eats batteries when display is on.

Review 2 of 29

Summary:
I love this camera for close up detail photography. I was accustomed to using my trusty manual focus 35mm for photographing my sculptural projects. However, it is much easier to photograph projects with a digital camera and email them to my clients.

Strengths:
Great for up close highly detailed photographs! No flash needed for these type of photos even in subdued light. The accompanying adobe software is excellent for clarifying the photos even further and making any adjustments wanted. This camera is extremely easy to use. I couldn't be happier with the results I am able to achieve.

Weaknesses:
None for close up photos which is what I used this camera for. Thus my review and rating will only be for short range detailed photos.

Review 3 of 29

Summary:
Overall I am very satisfied with this camera. It takes great pictures if you play the Ricoh rules: Indoor shots with flash

Strengths:
Easy to use, menus are very logical and intuitive, picture quality is awessome, colors are very natural, great features

Weaknesses:
Short batteries life, flash is too week, long waiting time between the shots, manual is written by a moron, focus is not as consistant as in film cameras.

Review 4 of 29

Summary:
Good price and feature set don't necessarily make a good camera. While this camera appeared to have all of the features I was looking for, I ended up returning it because the performance was quite marginal.

Strengths:
Price, Features. 3x zoom is nice. Battery life was much better than I expected. It uses AA's so low cost, long life rechargables are readily available at the local Radio Shack. Came with a 32MB card that held far more pictures than I expected as well.

Weaknesses:
Auto Focus was terrible. I ended up tossing 2 out of every 3 pictures I took because the focus really wasn't very sharp. Auto exposure was not very good, especially when using the flash. Just about all flash pictures were underexposed. I'm really used to the auto focus and exposure on my trusty Cannon EOS (which is usually flawless). I was quite surprised that Ricoh would sell a camera that performed this poorly. I also have an 8mm Ricoh video camera that's been a first rate peice of gear.

Review 5 of 29

Summary:
For the last 25 years I've used quality 35mm gear and am very comfortable with this format. I've used Nikon and most recently Canon equipment. I decided to give digital a whorl as sending photos via email appeals to me. I would never use this or any other digital camera for anything other than grab shots. Oh, the Ricoh is a nice camera for the money, but to me it has a long way to go as far as image quality.

Strengths:
Good for emailing photos taken on bright days.

Weaknesses:
Camera body a little small for even average size hands. FLASH IS WORTHLESS. Don't even think about anything over 10-12 feet. Soft ware manual is about as bad as the flash. It doesn't give much help. There will be hours of time invested in trying to use it.
