Review 1 of 31

Price Paid:  $500.00 from Wal-mart

Summary:

Absolutely love the camera. I have owned three other digital cameras and have used several others belonging to friends. This one being far superior to any other I have experienced. 8x10's are photo quality when shooting only in HQ. The macro shots result in crystal clear enlargements as well. Have been into serious photography (darkroom, etc.) for 35 years and have found this camera to be versatile enough to allow me to leave my 35mm SLR's at home most of the time. (Some longer exposure shots requiring another camera.)For the money, I don't feel one can find a better purchase.

Strengths:

If using rechargeable NIMH batteries, the camera will easily shoot in excess of 200 frames even while using monitor. It's recording speed is very quick in comparison to others of this mega and price range. Because of its shape and weight, it handles better than any I've used.

Weaknesses:

Could have faster start up and shut down.

Similar Products Used:

Sony, Kodak, other lower mega Olympus',Panasonic...

Customer Service:

no problems in one and a half years

Review 2 of 31

Price Paid:  $350.00 from Circuit City

Summary:

This was my first digi-camera. I read the specs and review on What Digital Camera Magazine...so I took their word for it and went out and brought it... They weren't lying. I couldn't believe the shots I was taking. Sheesh my friends couldn't believe it either. They thought somebody else took the pictures for me cos they look too way professional. I recommended this camera to a few family members and friends of mines...and they all have told me exactly what I'm telling you. This camera is OFF THE HOOK!!!!This camera is a must have in your digital arsenal. If you will like to see some photo samples I have taken...hit me off with a email. You won't regret it.

Strengths:

Very easy to use. This 4 megapixel seems like a 5 megapixel. Shoots excellent photos you wouldn't believe!!. Excellent Night shots!! ( better get a tripod tho ) Did I mention good picture quality :) This camera will make you feel like a pro!! ( I'm not lying ) Excellent black & white features. The sepia is excellent as well. Don't sleep on this cool feature ( sepia ) Manual is so easy to understand that you won't need it again. Macro mode....OFF THE HOOK!!! I really think this camera is 5 megapixels :) Let me stop from here before I write a novel.

Weaknesses:

None. Just purchase extra digital batteries cos you going to have fun taking pictures with this baby. You won't want the fun to stop .

Similar Products Used:

Canon Powershot G5.

Customer Service:

None what -so-ever. Read the manuel and EXPERIMENT.

Review 4 of 31

Price Paid:  $400.00 from Best Buy

Summary:

It seems that there is no such thing as a bad picture with this camera. I bought it because it had the most manual-type features that I could find in a digital camera. To hell with that! This is a camera that only needs a human to push the shutter release. The little movie feature reminds me of the Zapruder film, but we didn't buy it for movies now did we...

Strengths:

Ease of use, ease of interface with home computer.

Weaknesses:

Digital zoom, like all digital zooms equals poor quality.

Similar Products Used:

Only digital.

Review 5 of 31

Price Paid:  $379.00 from Circuit City

Summary:

What an awesome camera !!! I did research on digital cameras and this one kept showing up as a top rated camera with outstanding picture quality. It may not have EVERY bell & whistle that others may but it does have outstanding picture quality. When you buy a camera, that's what you are pretty much looking for right? The panorama function works great. Strongly suggest getting this one...

Strengths:

Awesome picture quality. Long battery life. Able to use rechargable AA batteries or (in a pinch) standard AA.

Weaknesses:

If I had to pick one, I'd wish for sound to go with video. But I have a video camera so this is a moot point.

Nikon 4300 Canon A70
