Review 1 of 17

Price Paid:  $6.00

Summary:

Although I have been a Fuji lover for years, I have to yield to Kodak's new 100SW. My son and I go on international shoots every August, and this time we compared Fuji Provia 100, Sensia 100 with this new Kodak 100SW. The SW is virtually grainless, a full step about the provia. It is also super sharp, realistic colors to just slightly saturated, very slightly warm. Does everything well. It is unbeatable. We didn't refrigerate it on the trip, it got warm and cold several times in various Venezuelan climates. Stunning! I mean breathtaking reproduction.

Strengths:

Virtually grainless, sharp, realistic.

Weaknesses:

Slightly more expensive, our excellent camera shop says it's harder to develop, they have to do a test run of the film batch to keep it from "going red."

Similar Products Used:

All the slide films.

Review 2 of 17

Price Paid:  $5.00 from Hunts Photo World

Summary:

If you have not tried this film, I would highly recommend you give it a shot. I had been using Kodachrome 64 for some time. Seeing how Kodak seems to be phasing it out, I decided to try out the new family of films. When I got it back from the lab, I was very impressed. I was amazed how fine the grain was. The grain seemed finer than the Kodachrome 64. I have shot both the E100S and E100SW. I prefer the “SW” because of the slight warming affect it has. The E100SW is the only film I use for glamour shots.

Strengths:

Fine Grain 100 Speed Nice warming affect so I don't have to use any filters. Available in all formats

Weaknesses:

None

Review 3 of 17

Price Paid:  $7.00 from Madrid photo store

Summary:

This is my favourite kodak slide. It''s very sharp and saturated for landscapes and it''s fantastic for skin tones too. It´s a perfect general purpose film.

Strengths:

Very sharp. Very saturated with nice warm balance. Very good skin tones. Versatile.

Weaknesses:

Price. There''s no consumer version, so it makes me look at Provia F which is the winner now.

Price Paid:  $15.00 from Canada

Summary:

I use this film since he''s available (1996). To resume is qualities: The E100SW got all good points of any Ekatchrome and Kodachrome without aving their own respective flaws.

Strengths:

- Outstanding color rendition - Excellent Chrome and grey tonals - Outstanding reds - Fine grain - Support Push process very well (when you need without lost).

Weaknesses:

- Price (in Canada) - A very little bit to dark in blacks areas.

Review 5 of 17

Summary:

This film is a good balance between the super-saturated films and the more accurate films. It provides warmth and saturation without making everything look like the colors are self illuminating. For nature/outdoors, it supports the natural image rather than overwhelming it and calling attention to itself.

Now that I have outgrown the super-saturated look, this is the slide film I choose for most shots.

This is also an excellent choice for the last lingering Kodachrome holdouts.

Strengths:

A warm, saturated film that provides color enhancement without the super saturation of Provia F, 100VS, or the awful circus-color Velvia.

Weaknesses:

As usual, too expensive.
