An Introduction to Sony Digital Cameras
Sony is a huge, worldwide company, best known for consumer electronics like television sets and the Walkman personal stereo. They also helped develop the CD and the DVD, they produce and promote movies, and they own one of the biggest record labels in the world. And Sony makes digital cameras, too. They've been making digital cameras since they first became available and the first digital camera I ever used was a Sony Mavica that saved to a floppy disc. It's not talked about much, but Sony also makes the CCD sensors in a lot of the digital cameras made by other manufacturers. So even if you don't own a Sony digital camera, there's a good chance there's still Sony technology inside.
Sony Cyber-shot Digital Cameras

|
Sony offers a wide range of Sony Cyber-shot compact digital cameras. The Cyber-shot line includes everything from truly pocket-sized digital cameras, like the popular T-Series cameras, to the Cyber-shot R1, which features an APS-sized 10.2-megapixel CCD, just like a digital SLR. Sony Cyber-shot digital cameras are known for their Carl Zeiss lenses, Sony Memory Stick memory cards, and the vivid quality of their digital photos.

Sony Alpha A100 Digital SLR Camera
Sony recently introduced their first digital SLR, the Sony Alpha DSLR-A100. The new camera is aimed at the consumer market - first time digital SLR buyers who are also considering entry level digital SLRs from Nikon, Canon, Pentax, or Olympus. The Alpha digital SLR is built around Konica Minolta's Maxxum / Dynax SLR and lens system, so Konica Minolta owners will also be able to use the new Sony Alpha digital SLR body with their lenses, or use their Maxxum lenses with the new Sony Alpha camera body. The Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 has a 10.8-megapixel CCD sensor with CCD-Shift image stabilization.
