Strength:

Ease of use, metering,7-point focus, light weight, amazing pictures

Weakness:

plastic lens mount??? (i dont use those bulky lenses anyway) and the 28-80 lens that comes with the kit.

Its a good value for money camera with lot of features and the best part is that even my mon can win a photography contest. :-)

This camera is highly recomended for beginners as well as intermediates and a backup body for the big guys.

At this price I opted the Rebel 2K against the Nikon N80/F80.. and i think i was right.

Strength:

Easy to use. Light weight. Many useful functions only found on much dearer cameras. Full Manual mode. Fast responsive auto-focus. Depth of field preview.

Weakness:

You just can't moan at this price!!

This camera is wonderful! Anyone can use it. It's a beauty to either take to the camera club or those fast snapping family occassions.

The overall quality of the camera is far higher than the low price. OK, OK.. so it has a plastic lens mount and a smallish flash. So what!!!

The plastics used these days are far better than most people think. I've already dropped my EOS 300 in a car park and it is fine!

As for flash, you can always buy a large flash for more serious use. But I found the built in flash went a very long way.

The Canon EOS 300 is the perfect compromise for those who love SLR usability without the fiddly bits and the bulk!

The aspiring photo hobbyist or the snapshooter who wants more than a compact offers should buy this camera.

I love my EOS 300!

Strength:

Very good price. Nice and light. Good quality, batteries seem to last pretty good.

Weakness:

None. For this price you can't b***h about a few glitches - not that there are any.

This is a great camera. Be smart. Buy it. Now. :-)

I take this camera everywhere. I bought a pelican case for it (indestructable) so I even bring it on canoe trips where it gets thrown around and dunked in water regulary (inside the case!). I go hiking in the rockies and it sits in my backpack unprotected the whole time. I love to re-live my adventures through the pictures this little gem gives me. BUY IT!

Strength:

I have enjoyed using the Rebel 2000 for many reasons. The first would be that as a carry along camera I can use the fully automatic mode as easily as a P&S with very nice results. This is excellent for me as a beginner as I can not always determine the right settings fast enough. Some of the creative options are quite nice and the aperture priority and shutter speed priority are very handy. This camera has been wonderful for me to grow into. Starting with the very basic and finally figuring out a few of the more advanced features I have been able to both capture the moment and let my creative juices flow. The light weight makes the camera easy to carry around and though the small size is sometimes hard for my big hands I have no complaint.

Weakness:

Somehow my focusing screen became crooked over a weekend. It was easily and quickly fixed by an authorized Canon agent.

I would recommend this camera both for the beginner to grow into and as a second camera for the advanced photographer. With an easy to read display, clear manual, and many creative modes, the camera both helps the beginner and enhances the serious photographer.

Customer Service

Canon has always been very good when I have had occasion to work with them.

Strength:

Its easy to use and gets me pretty good results. And I have just started using it. Its a definite upgrade for me from a P&S camera user. And vastly superior to the manual cameras I used way back in the 60's. I use the 50mmf1.4 and get sharp results worlds apart from my old P&S.

Weakness:

No problems so far. I did have to read up on the Internet to hone up on picture taking. But the results are rewarding.

Its cost me a pretty penny. But I believe its worth it with the latest features. A good balance of P&S and manual.

Customer Service

Haven't needed any. The camera manual is pretty clear.

easy to use, lightweight, good auto features that can be disabled for semi-auto or manual control.

great starter kit. good price and comes with a decent Canon 28-80 lens.
battery cover seems a little too delicate with the light plastic body and all, but balances well with optional battery pack BP-200 that adds a vertical shutter release.

Great features for the money. Excellent results in all situations. Great exposure metering.

Weakness:

small and light weight, but improved balance with battery pack attached.

Very happy with this camera so far, if you are looking for a heavy camera don't buy this one. Advanced photographers seem disapointed with this cameras bulid, but I don't plan on abusing it.

Hated this body. Cheap, nasty, plastic plastic plastic. Horrible ergonomics, cheap feel, cheap finish, cheap. Lousy exposure metering.

Weakness:

Didn't break, but then I didn't own it long enough. Couldn't wait to get rid.

I hated it! Does nothing to maintain the Canon myth of good quality.

Beginners can get the accurate exposure with auto mode. Intermediates have a lot features to explore. Professionals can use it as backup. People who don't like it can have an object to release their anger and cuss it. And it never answers back.
