Strength:

Cheap, light, wide range of available lenses

Weakness:

Wimpy flash, occasionally indecisive autofocus, metering gets fooled by certain landscapes.

Okay, so it's plastic. What did all expect for the money? This camera has served me well over the last three years and some huge number of rolls. I have many 'National Geographic' quality (according to co-workers) animal shots taken with this 'beginners' camera.
My only gripes are about the metering. It cannot cope with a typical Utah high desert scene with bright rocks and dark trees in the same shot. Underexposure is the usual result. The limit of 1/2000 on the shutter speed is a bind when using a 300mm lens handheld to get aircraft, birds or dragonflies. Oh yes, and the autofocus is not too clever at times. How much of this is a function of the lens I do not know.
Still good value for money.

Strength:

Lightweight, faster autofocus than the comparably priced Nikon, Monolta and Pentax. I like the different exposure modes, although I usually use automatic mode.

Weakness:

Flash is shadowed by the lens I use (Tamron 28-200mm).

Controls can be a bit confusing.

No Depth of Field preview.

I like the camera and recommend it to my friends. I've had it a couple of years and have never had a problem with it. I'm now shopping for a standalone flash to fix my "flash problem". I LOVE the light weight of it, especially after my Nikkormat.

I've travelled all over with it. Even though it's plastic, so what? 1/2 the parts on our cars are plastic now, it's pretty tough stuff. :-)

Strength:

It's nice and light. It's survived a few drops onto concrete, so it's tougher than it looks.

Weakness:

Wobbly autofocus, which just doesn't work in the dark. The viewfinder is far smaller and darker than my faithful BX20.

I lost my 500N last night. I left it in a taxi after a party. I took the film out first, though - the new fuji x-tra layer 800 film.

Customer Service

No problems.

Strength:

Lightweight, can be taken any where, great features, wonderful for closeups.

Weakness:

Takes a few seconds to focus when using a fast film and flash in the hotshoe (in dark situations only)

I LOVE THIS CAMERA! The Rebel G was my first camera and its still my baby. I have done great work with it and I use this along with medium format cameras at weddings and when I'm in places where quick reactions are required. EXCELLENT for closeups. I recommend this camera to beginners and people who want great pictures but not all the technical stuff.

Strength:

lightweight, auto focus

Weakness:

takes a bit long to focus

I love the quality of the images this produces. I use this for shooting candid photo's that I hand color. I enjoy the results and only was disapointed once when the focusing didn't quite kick in. I wouldn't trade this back for my old canon except maybe for a newer quicker model.

Strength:

Lightweight, does all the fun automated stuff you need when your in a hurry. Cheap

Weakness:

af is slow, maybe the lense im using? Its plastic, not very durable.

First fully automated camera I've used. It's been fun but I'm rough on it. I shoot an average of 4-5 rolls a week at live shows. I'm looking for a more rugged camera at present. Great for the transistion from manual to automation.

Customer Service

yes, taken to the shop twice. Dont know the problem, would not load film. Problem continued so they gave me a new one. All has been well for past year.

Overall, I can take it anywhere because it's so light and durable. I work for the school and for my boss taking personal shots. In a school enviroment (with all the rowdy students) I really needed a camera that could take alot. I love it.

Good fexabiity

Weakness:

Slow autofocus

This was my first film SR after an Olympus D500 Digital. I've gotten some good high and low speed shots from this rig. My next step will be a higher-end digital camera, but I'll always keep this by my side.
It's a good unit for those entering the 33mm world as the programs can handle most situations and it has enough flexability to start exploring the manual world.
