Strength:

simple to use cheap good travel camera for the beginner photographer.

Weakness:

No exposure/ aperature control. I fact All settings are automatic with a selector for program, portrait, landscape, macro... modes. AF is slow, and can't handle low light conditions at all, I've had focusing issues in daylight too. (problems may in part be due to the lenses I'm using)

I recieved the camera as a gift a few years ago, and have had a lot of fun with it. It is very easy to use, and very light. I have outgrown the camera, but it serves a nice purpose, and does what it is designed to do. It is a good travel camera for people who want a little more than a point and shoot, but still want its simplicity. And its pretty cheap now from what I can tell.

I thought that I was getting a camera that I could use what I learned in my class. But I got an oversized point and shoot camera. I am not very happy with it. I want to be able to play with the camera to get different images. Now I am looking for a new camera.

Weakness:

Oversized point-and-shoot camera with no manual overide functions.

My first SLR way back when. Even though I was new the QTsi did not offer enough to satisfy my needs. It is basically an oversized point-and-shoot camera. It needs to at least have some manual functions besides focusing. It is way to easy to outgrow this camera. I would not recommend this model. I used it for maybe a couple months then bought an XTsi.

Strength:

Ease of use, common sense layout, LARGE pre-set screen, quality of shots. Simplicity, if you learn to use all the funtions on this camera including when to use the flash for outdoor fill ins, and what the pre-sets mean and are doing for you, you will be ready to move up to something that gives you more control. Somtimes less IS better.

Weakness:

I did not use it much in darker settings[two weeks of clear blue skies], but the auto focus may hunt a bit in darker settings.

I own or owned an Xtsi, that is, until a trip to British Columbia in August. On the first day on my first role of film I dropped the camera and broke the clasp on the back making the camera inoperable. Lets see…, first real family trip in 5 years, two lenses, a flash and camera bag, lots of film, and no camera body. While in Calgary I stopped in a camera store and picked up a re-furbished Qtsi for 200.00 bucks. I could at least use my lenses and get those once in a lifetime shots of our five year old romping around in Alpine meadows with glacial backdrops. This is probably the most basic camera I have owned since my browning days and I wasn’t expecting much more than the most basic of shots. SURPRISE, of the 11 or so rolls I shot I didn’t have to hide a single shot from the family, in fact I came back with some of the best shots I have ever taken while on holidays. Part of the reason I believe was the HUGE 5 function display on the top of the camera that screams out {use me dummy}, …so I did. You don’t have to know anything about f-stops or apertures just learn what the 5 settings are good for and enjoy. While it could never be my only camera {after 25 years I like to pretend I know what I’m doing, despite what my wife says}, this is a great beginners or family camera. If you want the quality of an SLR without having to take Photo 101, this is your camera.

Great camera for those wanting full automation. Personally, I misread the facts and was wanting a camera with the manual features. Great quality, though, and easy to use.

Strength:

PRICE,you can find them cheaper than what I paid Image Quality Simple ease of use Enterchangeable lenses!! Preset options

Weakness:

The flash could be built better. Sometimes pops up unexpectedly. Not a real problem though. Focus crawls at low light.

This is great beginner camera that takes wonderful pictures. My wife and I were looking for somthing to give us better quality pictures than a point & shoot yet not be complicated. We found that in this camera. The preset options make it easy for us to use. We have taken portraits and the kids playing baseball, all have turned out wonderful. I added a Tamron 28-200mm lens which really helped in the vatiety of shoots we can take. If you are looking for a point & shoot that will give you quality prints, this is it!! Add a zoom lens it makes a big difference.

Strength:

definitly lightweight....but puts it sorely of balance with a good heavy lense. quick ready to go setting for imediate shots that life gives you.

Weakness:

well if your gonna try to take this chrome bait camera for street photography in say, "tougher" neighborhoods count on being jacked! probably great for safe places like nature family get tog ethers etc. basically a point and shoot in slr format. i strongly recomend the older time tested metal chasied cameras like the A-1 s and and the F3 s from both canon and nikon minolta made a great one too X-700

I was really jazzed by the looks of the thing, when i read the manual and found how limited the options were i was let down. The manual override is so limited i can only obtain a focus which is great if you want to move up from a compact/point and shoot or want general pix, but if you are looking for a diversified companion that can produce unique and varied pictures...you can score on an excellant vintage A-1 or F3 on ebay for this kind of price, all and all research heavilly into something that you will be depending on and spending alot of time with, especially an "auto" slr.

Customer Service

i hope i never see the dawn of talking to these people bout a busted plastic part! but sadly the way i treat these things i am eminant too

Strength:

Auto-focus, ease of use

Weakness:

Mine just died on me while auto rewinding. Need to switch to manual to get some shots of moving objects.
Not able to clearly see objects out of viewfinder. Auto focus not fast enough to get shots of people in motion (sports mode helps but not enough).

This camera was adequate until it broke. I really miss my Canon T-50 (it finally gave out after much use). It had more flexibility in auto/manual features. I liked the ease with which you could get decent pictures without much effort. This was especially helpful when photographing my toddler. If you have more luck than I did (i.e. if it works for longer than the 6 months I had it), it is a functional camera for a beginner or for someone that wants a decent result without much knowlwdge of photography. Good luck if you purchase this camera.

Strength:

Easy to use, very useful programmed modes. Picture sharp with the 35-70AF II zoom. Light weight.

Weakness:

Fill-in flash does not always go off when fill-in is needed at 'auto mode', need to go to manual flash. Metering a bit confused when bright outdoor light behind subject.

Very satisfactory SLR for intermediate photographer like me. Always carry it along everywhere I go since I bought it.

Customer Service

No need to use yet.
